history
Hazel's childhood was more or less unremarkable. Her mother had always told her she was special, but Hazel only believed it as far as any small child would. Her imagination was no more than her imagination, and her mother's kind words were nothing more than a maternal instinct.
When she was eleven, her parents didn't come home and her brother's answers weren't sufficient. Haze cried, ugly sobs with snot coming out of her small nose and she decided she would prove that she really was special - even if she herself hadn't believed it; however, not being very learned in the gifts she hardly knew about, the event that was supposed to bring her parents back just gave her ears. They weren't even very discernable: were they dog ears or cat ears? Honestly, they could have even been a white tailed deer's ears, just a bit bigger.
Oh well. Win some, lose some.
With it being impossible to hide her true nature (unless she wears a hat, but after the incident she grew an irrational fear to hats... and cars, horns, loud noises, hoses, being left alone, etc) Haze has had her fair share of discrimination. It's really only made her more of a light-hearted soul. She's distinctly strange, even now that she's older.
