[atrb=align,right][atrb=style,width:320,btable][atrb=border,0,true][atrb=style,border-bottom: 1px solid #707070;] someday i wanna run a shop like this | Seraphita wasn’t seriously injured, but she wanted to head to the hospital just in case. She had cut the palm of her hand from a piece of a broken vase as she was trying to clean it up. After getting her hand sanitized and wrapped in a clean bandage, she was given the ok to leave. Being in this hospital reminded her that she was born here, and was the place that her mother held her for the first time. She obviously had no idea who her father was, but she really wanted to know who he was… would she ever see him again? Smiling bitterly to herself, she walked out of the hospital and without even looking, bumped into someone again. ”Oh, I’m sorry! Are you alright?” |

It'll give you the cleanest x-ray you've ever seen! Sometimes they applauded him, called him a genius, other times not so much.
Today was definitely the latter. He was only just wheeling out his latest machine - meant to make dialysis a much more efficient process - when a hurried woman bumped into him. Klaus wasn't a very expressive person usually, but as he felt his device rock from the impact, a panic crossed over his face. "Hey!" he barked, lunging to stabilize the machine so it wouldn't topple off the two wheeled dolly.
He actually sighed in relief that it hadn't fallen and broken into tiny, tiny pieces (just as his heart would have at the sight), but the peace in his eyes was there for only a moment until he looked to Seraphita.
"You should watch where you're going," he murmured, annoyed, "you might break something that's worth more than you are." i've come to burn your kingdom down. |

She hadn’t seen anything like this before. Was he an inventor of some sort? In any event, she was totally guilty about bumping into this man’s machine. What if she had broken it? That would have been terrible. Seraphita had to watch her surroundings more carefully! ”Again, I’m sorry! I’m sort of in a hurry…” Well, she didn’t have anything else to do except go home or visit Jenna. Looking into the man’s eyes, she felt a weird sensation inside her. Something didn’t seem right but he looked kind of familiar. Maybe she was just imagining things, but this strange feeling wouldn’t go away. ”What kind of machine is this? It looks really interesting.” Seraphita looked at it for a moment. |

Twice. Klaus nodded his head, his body language returning to that of his usual calm self. "Well," he began, flashing her a small smile, "nothing was broken. No harm, no foul." And... what was that? Was she actually interested in the contraption he had built? Anyone that wanted to hear about the things he made was someone worth talking to, at least to him.
"It's meant for dialysis," he explained, making a sweeping motion with his hand toward it. Klaus looked at it with pride. After all, it had taken him many hours and long, sleepless nights to make. It wasn't that he was very interested in the medical field, but he needed money. If inventing things for the local doctors made him enough to eat then that was what he would have to do. "It's designed to put less strain on the patient, and be much easier to maintain and use."
The device was large and a bit clunky looking, made out of some shiny, deep gold colored metal. It had many knobs and buttons and switches, none of which were labeled. "I... made it myself."
Klaus tore his eyes from his invention to look at Seraphita. There was something about her, something about the way the sun hit her face and cast shadows across it -- something strongly familiar. She looked quite alike someone he knew, or once knew at best. There was a sudden heavy sensation in his chest, but Klaus kept an open and friendly expression, not allowing it to phase him.
"I'm Klaus." i've come to burn your kingdom down. |

From what she remembered, that was a machine that removed waste and water from the blood, among other things. It looked pretty neat—it must have took Klaus a long time to make it. ”Wow, it looks really awesome! I bet the doctors will like it!” She still couldn’t shake that weird feeling off her chest, no matter how nice she acted. ”Nice to meet you Klaus. I’m Seraphita Gillespie, but you can call me Sera for short. I work in the church as a Nun.” The black haired girl smiled, showing off those pearly whites that her mother adored. Sometimes Seraphita’s neighbors would say that Sera and her mother looked exactly alike, unlike her father. |

"Yes," he whispered, then blinked quickly, regaining his composure. Klaus put on a charismatic smile and looked up at Seraphita, "I think I know her. I believe we attended school together," he lied. Klaus was a good liar, though, good at talking himself in and out of things.
He turned away slightly then, as if to put distance between them. "You look a lot like her. That's a good thing, your mother is very beautiful."

Those words alone were enough to make Klaus dizzy. He sighed heavily and ran his fingers through his hair as if it was a nervous habit. How was he meant to tell her that he could be, should be her father? Oh yes, I do know your mother! I married her and then abandoned the both of you just before you were born. I left in the darkness and never came back.
No matter what way he put it, there was no way Seraphita wouldn't look down on him for leaving. No matter what Klaus thought had justified the action back then, it would never be right in the eyes of Jenna or their daughter.
Their daughter... His daughter... He had missed every precious moment that occurred as she grew up. First word, first steps, they were missing from the memories he was meant to make.
"My last name is Gillespie too," he finally managed, sounding strained; not a direct confession. "But I would have thought your mother would have changed it... after all that had happened." i've come to burn your kingdom down. |

So… that could only mean… Klaus was Seraphita’s long-lost father? The dad she never got to see until now? The man who abandoned her mother just months before she was born? So many emotions piled on Seraphita. She could only feel sadness and disappointment. While she was somewhat happy that she had finally met him at last, the question she mostly wanted to know was: Why? Why did he leave her when her mother needed his support? Instead, Jenna endured the pregnancy alone and gave birth with no family support to ease the pain, except for the doctor and nurses who helped her. Tears began streaming down her cheeks, unable to contain her emotions any longer. ”D-daddy? Are you my father?! Why… why did you leave me and my mother?” She knelt down on the ground, covering her face with her hands. |

Klaus could see the shake of her shoulders and the sound of her sobs as she cried aloud.
"I think I am," he clarified, his voice eerily cool considering the situation.
He lifted his hand from the handle of his dolly and squated down in front of Seraphita. He peered down his nose, unsure what to do, as he took in her appearance. Seraphita's long hair and thin frame reminded him so tragically of Jenna. Did Jenna still appear now as she does in Klaus's memories? Seraphita was surely her successor. His eyes bore into his daughter, trying desperately to pinpoint a trait that was so clearly his own.
"I'm... sorry," he struggled, considering reaching out to touch her shoulder but never actually doing so. He had no idea what he could say to comfort her, wasn't even sure comforting was even possible, and so his mouth fell open wordlessly. There was nothing. Absolutely nothing. i've come to burn your kingdom down. |

[atrb=align,right][atrb=style,width:320,btable][atrb=border,0,true][atrb=style,border-bottom: 1px solid #707070;] someday i wanna run a shop like this | For some reason, Seraphita couldn’t be angry at him. She just didn’t know why. All she could feel was sadness and loneliness that she had. Even though she had Jenna, she was still alone. She wanted a dad who would pick her up when she fell down and take care of her when she was sick. But she never got that wish. She stopped crying and looked at her father with teary eyes. ”I’ve… always wished, every Christmas for a dad… and I never got that present.” What would Jenna say if she found him right now? Her mother would feel the same way her daughter felt: sadness and disappointment, and somewhat happiness. Would she be happy if her fiancé came back at last? Would the ever fall in love like they did years ago? Seraphita slowly got up and sighed. ”She was always waiting for you… Why would you leave her when her and me needed you the most?” |
