Being the second child to be born to the Waters brood, Elijah was the first to bare the brunt of his father's obvious favouritism, perhaps even the hardest of the three younger children. Desperate to gain the similar favor of his perfect sibling, the meek brother forced himself to digest the sciences, forcing himself to endure a life of study to go to med school and pursue his father's success. Unfortunately, while a plenty intelligent young man, the material made him miserable and proved too heavy for him to digest. Even an affinity towards mathematics and craftsmanship seemed to do nothing to divert the adoring attentions of his father. Nothing seemed to compare, even the affections of his mother and siblings, to that of his father's highest graces.

This attempt having gone so terribly, Eli's next endeavor to earn his father's adoration was to create the perfect family. He bagged a strong independent wife, one who adored how complacent her husband would be under her authority. Of course, complacency lost it's thrill once they began living together, especially testing during the process of starting said family. Even after several fertility treatments, only one sweet baby girl came to be, a situation Elijah's wife resented him heavily for. Finding both father and daughter as disappointing as the other, the ambitious woman went away to a far-off place, leaving Elijah with the duties and guilt of not being everything he should've been. He shortly turned to alcohol as a coping mechanism after.

With the surgical precision of the doctor he aspired to be and the overzealous drive of that little boy desperate to be something, Elijah now works long hours as the peninsula's carpenter, catering to his daughter's every whim however he can.
