Harvey Cleaver's past can be described in one very weighty word: unextraordinary. He was the second born son in a family of five, and was continually smothered by his mother and two sisters. While the women of the house constantly doted and teased him, Harvey and his father had a rather cool relationship; conversations between them were straight to the point and uneventful. Harvey never sought advice from any of his family members, and he never shared his feelings or any of his hopes and dreams. Instead he turned the pages of books, and wrote intensively; this was how he preferred it. Adventure books with dashing heroes were his favorites, followed closely by fantasies describing fantastical worlds. The more Harvey read, the more his desire to go into the wild grew. His own life was so uneventful, and predictable, after all...
Shortly before he graduated high school, Harvey dropped a bombshell on his family; he would not continue his schooling, nor would he stick around and find a job. He had decided to pack up and roam the world, and when graduation time came, that's what he did. Harvey left with a pack on his back and money his pocket, and a keen sense of wonder and adventure. His most recent letters to his family back home have revealed that he's settled (momentarily) on Sepalum Peninsula, and is living in a tiny room above a small bakery, where he is trying hard to write his next novel.

- The bakery where Harvey is living, and, working at is called The Early Rise bakery. The elderly couple that hired him are very kind; they don't provide him with just a room and job, after all! They also provide him with three square meals, all the fresh bread he might want, and are also in the process of teaching him how to bake an extensive list of goodies. Their kindness befuddled Harvey at first. After all, who goes this out of their way for a shiftless wanderer? After a bit of talking, Harvey has been told that he resembles the couple's son. Apparently, he left a very long time ago, and doesn't bother keeping in touch. Harvey is a little uncomfortable knowing this (after all, he's left his own family behind, and he doesn't really like the idea of being someone's replacement), but there's not much to do about it. After all, living with the elderly couple at The Early Rise benefits him immensely.
- He gets along very well with animals! They tend to be attracted to him, and often pester him in flocks and multitudes. Harvey has a very entertaining story about this one time he was in the mountains that has to do with a herd of deer, and a flock of geese--
- To be honest, he highly suspects that his magic has something to do with all his little animal friends.
- Often takes pictures while he's on his travels, to document where he goes, where he stays, and who he meets.
