Klaus had the fortune of being born into a very wealthy family -- he attended all the best schools, was taught by only by the most professional scholars, and raised by kind, diligent nannies. He spent almost all of his days buried in books about science and arithmatic, but it was what he loved and chose to do. Klaus grew up to be a very quiet, distant young man, with a very poor relationship to his parents.
It was no wonder that when he came of age, he decided to leave home in search of more interesting things. For years he had seen the same faces, the same walls of his home. He loved traveling and sought out the knowledge of all those he met, constantly inventing things as he checked in and out of inns all over. It wasn't until he met Jenna, a beautiful woman, that he settled down.
The two had a torrid romance. No one was surprised when they were married and announced that they were expecting their first child; but the rumors were what got to Klaus. Jenna, cheating on him? The idea that the baby wouldn't be his made his insides rot. Just before their daughter's birth, Klaus skipped town and didn't look back. He couldn't stay and pretend everything was fine. Klaus couldn't look upon their baby's face to wonder if it was his at all.
Klaus continued his travels but his inventions went stale. His inspiration and sense of wonder had been torn from him. After nearly two decades of avoiding his past, he has returned to investigate what he had avoided for so long.
