Believe it or not, Sage has not always been the pint-sized walking bulb you see today. He was born as human as any other townsperson in the Sepalum Peninsula. Only less ordinary and far more magically adept. The only magical being born to his family for three generations, the latest of which being his great grandfather. Due to this similar 'gift', the two became quite close. Far more close than Sage was with either his parents or his five siblings. Sage himself harboured little care for any of them, especially so compared to how powerful and amazing his grandfather was in comparison. It is often said around the family circles that Sage's personality mirrors that of his now deceased grandfather.

The passing of his mentor, role model, and dearest family left quite an impact of Sage. Not a negative one, mind you. Though now, in retrospect, it was the worst thing that could have possibly happened to the young wizard. Sage, ambitions blazing after such a chilling loss, decided that he would become a powerful wizard, more powerful than even his late grandfather. He would study and practice day in through night out, conjuring and participating in ancient rituals. When rummaging through his grandfather's library, Sage found a dusty text containing several grand spells, those which only a master wizard could perform.

Anxious to prove his worth, Sage attempted one of these spells. He was far too inexperienced to even be capable of channeling such powerful magic. In the process of misfiring the spell, the cocky student would find himself in store for a downsize - to the form of a small mutated plant. Not only could Sage not transform back to his regular appearance, he also could not perform any magic whatsoever. Infuriated, Sage immediately began seeking out a cure to his predicament. He found amidst his research a promising bud of information. Deep within forgotten mythos, there was a place of great magical power located in the southern peninsula. Here it was promised that one could find great magical energy. Set in his pursuit of reversal, Sage has come to this part of the world to seek the cure to this humiliating condition.
