history
Naomi thought she would have a normal childhood, in fact she did for the first decade of her life. She grew up a happy and healthy child with plenty of friends, a best friend she could tell anything too, and a mother and father who loved her unconditionally. However, this was all a child's dream that she would soon wake from. When Naomi was ten years old, she came home from school one afternoon to find her mother carrying suitcases down the stairs yelling at her father. Saying things how the passion in their marriage was gone and that he didn't care about her or what she truly wanted anymore. The awful scene of her father simply standing at the top of the steps, not even trying to bring his wife back to him as she left him for another man is forever burned into her brain. Noticing her young daughter there, her mother plastered a smile on and kissed Naomi on the forehead, promising she would send for her 'little princess' once she and Carson were settled into their new life. She would have a new little baby brother or sister as well! At this, her father stirred slightly but her mother picked up her last suitcase and walked out the door. Her father said nothing, and simply attempted to distract his daughter from the topic the rest of the night.
Soon enough, her father couldn't stand to live in that house anymore. A few months after her mother left them, her father told her they were going to move to city. If she wanted to stay close to the island and her friends, she could go live with her mother. Naomi didn't even need to think twice about her decision and soon they were making arrangements to move to the city. She tearfully told her best friend goodbye, but left her with promises to write all the time.
A few years passed by uneventfully. Her father had a steady job, Naomi went through the motions at school not really interesting in forging any new friendships. She did keep in constant contact with her best friend Mila back home, but ignored any and all letters her mother sent, which included pictures of Jenna Louise her baby sister. Throughout her life, Naomi had been rather talented on the piano, guitar and with her singing. She'd always had a slight interest in actually pursuing a career at and fourteen she actually begun to try and make that dream come true. It took two years, two years of meeting and schmoozing with the right people and two years of playing at no name restaurants and cafes, but finally at sixteen Naomi was signed to a small record company.
However, the constant feeling of being rejected, not only from her mother but from everyone else for two years, had changed the once very sweet and happy girl. Yes, she was still the same underneath, but she had developed a slight diva persona, she grew a little bossier than normal, and had a habit of being extremely sarcastic and joking when it wasn't necessary. Naomi never crossed the line to be rude, but certainly pushed people away. Which is what she wanted. The girl never really broke out big the music business, producing one record by the time she was seventeen, but she ran into a bigger problem. The guitarist on the record had grown very fascinated with Naomi and was making an effort to get to know her, despite the defenses that she put up, he would not leave her alone. It took a good year, before Naomi actually relented and went on the date he had been requesting for years.
Another change in her life happened as her best friend moved to the city and lived with her and her father. For a while, things were good. Even with all the changes, Naomi still didn't drop her diva attitude and it was quickly discovered that only Mila could really control her as she was working with the record company and quickly became Naomi's 'babysitter'. Naomi was fine with this though, as she was able to be herself again in private with her best friend. Even Cade, her new found relationship, didn't know about her mask. And she had no intention of telling him.
Things for quiet for about a year and a half before trouble stirred up. Naomi woke up one morning and became sick and discovered she was late. Worry overcame her as she flashbacked to the night celebrating her time with the record company. Naomi was a lightweight and after a few too many drinks, she and Cade proceeded to sleep together. They bother woke up in the morning agreeing that it was a mistake, but Cade didn't want to break up. Not really wanting to deal with any drama, Naomi simply agreed and things went relatively back to normal. Until she thought she was pregnant.
The twenty-two year old told no one, not even her best friend, but the father. His solution, they should get married. Naomi refused, saying they should just break up as he would just leave her anyway. Cade agreed to let her think about it, but showed up at their recording session the next day and proposed to her in front of everyone. She stood there, shocked, but said yes because she knew there would be too many questions if she said no. Later Naomi discovered she wasn't pregnant and met Cade to give him back his ring, which he wouldn't take. Naomi practically forced the ring into his hand before he told her he was planning on proposing anyway, he'd had the ring for weeks. He would have proposed even without the pregnancy and he would still marry her. Naomi begun to question him as to why, and he listed off reason after reason that she was the woman for him. Things she had never told him, but he still figured out. The woman broke down crying and finally accepted his proposal, feeling as though he truly did love her. A noticeable change in her attitude appeared over the next couple of weeks, she was more like her normal self. Kind, hard-working, focused, and understanding.
However...this only lasted for a few months. About six months after the engagement, Cade was killed in an accident while coming to work that morning. Naomi was devastated, Mila was the only one able to console her and bring her through the motions. She was a robot for months, before finally making the split second decision to move back to her hometown. She couldn't make music anymore, at least not here, and the city held too many memories of the man she might have loved. Her father understood and was slowly moving on with his life as well, testing the waters in a new relationship of his own and Naomi was confident he'd be fine.
She packed a few belongings, and moved back home with Mila to start...something new.
