Severine had a happy, normal childhood. Her parents were two of the many who were unaware of the damage wrought upon Sepalum, just wanting a good home and future for their only child and any future family they had. Severine never had any siblings though, and the announcement that her mother was no longer able to have children did cause the family to despair (not Severine though; she was only five and didn't understand why mummy and daddy were crying in front of the fireplace, a doctor's note in their hand). Her mother would forever go around after that with a sad smile on her face, but did the best for her only child and husband.
Severine's school life started with, not a bang, but a whimper. She had few friends (her quiet nature proved to be her downfall here), and the few that she had eventually moved away from Sepalum, leaving her with just the one. High school was a bit better; the teenagers there were nicer, but even so they steered clear of the strange, quiet witch who was always there, yet not. 'The perks of being a wallflower,' Severine had once thought to herself, 'was that you couldn't get hurt by anyone, because no one knew you were there.'
Immediately out of school, she had applied for a job at the general store, as a florist. Flowers were beautiful to Severine; they had a temporary beauty, loved then discarded when their beauty faded. They also didn't judge her, making them the perfect companion. Besides, her magic orientated towards plants, and they seemed to thrive around her. Being a florist was no hardship at all.
