Lyn Bennet
nineteen • female • farmer • rancher
personality
positive
negative
- friendly –The girl may be a little less versed in the ways of social interaction, but she loves meeting new people.
- eager to help –From her neighbor’s ill granddaughter to a bunny with a hurt paw, Lyn likes taking it upon herself to help others out.
- loves working –Lyn loves working on the farm and being outside. She takes pleasure in watching her crops grow, and as such, is a very dedicated worker because she knows that in the long run her crops will help out the town.
- organized –Despite being a country girl who is usually covered in dirt, Lyn is a very organized individual. Her farming shed has every tool and seed bag lined up in a specific order. She hates when people move around her stuff, because if it’s not in its place, she won’t know where to find it.
- energetic –Lyn’s used to working long hours out in the field, so when she’s got a day off she has too much energy to spare.
negative
- tomboy – for a cute little lady like herself, Lyn’s tendencies to want to be one of the boys can be seen as a fault. Her mother certainly wished she was more like a lady, but what can you do? Lyn just doesn’t engage in usual feminine activities, and would rather go out catching bugs or having an eating contest. And just looking at her cute face, as adorably petite and feminine as she looks, such unladylike actions can be a huge turn off.
- overworks herself often –Lyn loves working out in the fields, and knows that she needs to make a proper living to support herself and her dear friend. Usually that includes tending to crops early in the morning and staying up till late at night. She never gets enough sleep, and will probably get terribly ill because of it eventually. The cuts and bruises are also a result of her obnoxiously long hours working. It also cuts down on her social life.
- socially awkward –Lyn spends most of her days in the fields or in the woods trying to befriend the wild animals. She hardly visits town except when she needs to sell her crops so human interaction is minimal. Sure, she likes meeting and talking to people, but she doesn’t know what to do with herself after that much.
- picky eater –Lyn is a hardcore vegetarian, mostly because she doesn’t like the taste of meat, but she does get somewhat judgmental of people who eat meat. She likes animals too much. She will eat fish, eggs, and milk though. Fish because they’re some of the only animals she doesn’t like.
- poor fashion sense –Usually being covered head to toe in dirt doesn’t help appearances. Not only is this the norm for Lyn, as she kind of enjoys it, but she’s used to wearing work clothes everywhere, even where it might be inappropriate. In a café in town or a formal festival? Still the same beat up overalls and muddy shoes. She just doesn’t seem to get it, even if people give her weird looks.
history
Lyn Bennett was born into a family of teachers. Both her mother and father taught children in town. Because of this, when Lyn was young she was placed in the care of their next door neighbor most mornings and afternoons. Her neighbor, Miss Marie as Lyn called her, was a kind woman who loved to let Lyn help with tending the garden.
Miss Marie also had a young granddaughter, around Lyn’s age, and they would play outside and chase the butterflies from morning to night. The two were great friends. However, Miss Marie’s granddaughter had an illness, one that made her very weak, and kept her bedridden often, especially as the two girls grew older. By the time Lyn was sixteen, she would be able to see her dear friend once a week at most, sometimes once every two weeks.
Only a year later, Miss Marie passed away, leaving her small estate to Lyn, as well as the duty of caring for her granddaughter. Lyn, determined to help her childhood friend have the strength to be able to spend her days out of bed once more, took over the estate and turned the once small garden into a small farm. With her earnings from the crops, Lyn was determined to feed herself and her friend, as well as afford the expensive medicine that her friend would need. Because of this, Lyn was seen less and less around town as she happily spent her days in the fields tending to plants and doing what she loved.
