history
to say that mila had a dull childhood would be an understatement. alright, perhaps that was a bit harsh, but her childhood was overwhelmingly normal. she grew up in a sepalum in a two parent household. she was the middle child and second girl in her family- her older sister diane was two years older than her and her younger brother nick was younger by a year and a half. she was never really close with her siblings. they lived together and they had to tolerate each other. that was the extent of their relationship. nothing eventful really happened in her life until her best friend naomi moved away when she was nine. looking back, it doesn't seem like a huge deal. at the time however, mila felt like the world had ended with naomi's departure. she wasn't the most outgoing person in the world and had some trouble making new friends. the problem with spending almost all your time with one person was that, when they were gone, you had no one to fall back to. also social skills? they got a little rusty. she dealt with it the best she could, though. the majority of her school years were spent studying and reading, along with the occasional foray into physical activity.
while she tried her best to keep a positive outlook on life, she found herself utterly bored with banality of everything. when she graduated from school, she called up her old friend naomi (who was now a professional musician) and asked if she could come stay with her in the city for a while. she agreed and mila was on her way with packed bags the very next day. she stayed with naomi for a couple of months until she got a job. coincidently, it was with naomi (or maybe for naomi)- she was made her personal assistant. she actually did quite well. it was probably because mila seemed to be the only one who could put up with naomi. she was also the only person who could keep her in check. it took her longer to get used to the city than it did to her job. things were a lot more different and difficult than she had imagined them to be, but overall she was content with life. she had no intentions of going back to her childhood home at all.
and then things went south. naomi's fiancé passed away. mila had always been a little suspicious of their relationship (the engagement happened too suddenly, in her opinion) but cade genuinely made naomi happy, so she support them. when the news came, naomi was grief-stricken. after that, the last thing she wanted to do was remain in music, so she decided to return to sepalum peninsula. mila felt like she couldn't let naomi go off alone. as much as she wanted to stay in the city, it was clear to her that her best friend needed her support. she quit her job and came back to sepalum with naomi. on coming back, she got a job as a librarian. it wasn't horrible but it was a far cry from her old job in the city. most of her free time was spent discreetly (and sometimes not so discreetly) checking up on naomi. really, mila's priorities right now consist of making sure her friend is doing alright, doing well at her job, and making sure she can leave this place someday. which means no getting attached to anything. also, avoiding her family at all costs.

- she likes reading sappy romance novels. she's embarrassed about it so she keeps it a secret. nothing can get her as excited as the release of another good old paperback romance.
- even though she doesn't drink often, mila can hold her liquor. she's no champion, but she doesn't get drunk as easily as some.
- mila is a fairly good cook, as long as she sticks to simple, uncomplicated recipes. throw anything too elaborate at her and she might botch it up, but if she sticks to what she's good at, she can make edible and tasty food.
