[cs=2][atrb=valign,top] social FAMILY PARENTS: father + mother SIBLINGS: elder sister, younger twins OTHER FAMILY: uncle PETS: none physical STATISTICS HEIGHT: 6'1" WEIGHT: 170 lbs APPEARANCE EYE COLOR: green HAIR COLOR: olive MEDICAL INFORMATION On land, Eddy will be a bit nearsighted. If it is particularily dry or hot, he will dehydrate faster than normal as well. Physically, Eddy is in A+ shape. He's strong, lean, and in the water he's graceful and fast. On land, he won't Aquaman and wither and lose all his strength, but he will be extremely clumsy while he learns how to adjust. personality + PLAYFUL + CURIOUS + ENERGETIC + CHEERFUL + DARING + TALKATIVE - THICK - LOUD - BOUNDLESS - GULLIBLE - BULL HEADED - INCONSIDERATE BACKGROUND INFORMATION So this is a story all about how, a merperson's life got flipped turned upside down. And I'd like to take a minute just sit right there, I'll tell you how I came to Sepalum Peninsul-air. For two years, Nereus and Rhode had searched and sent a great many envoys, to try and find Rhode's brother and the little daughter they did not have the chance to know. The wreckage was searched constantly, and while a few casualties had been suffered, none were identified as the ones the couple were looking for. All throughout their life they continued, every year to try and find them on the anniversary of the disaster. To Meredith, the only knowledge of his sister existing was her name, and the anniversary of her disappearance being a terribly sad day in the land. I mean sea. Two years after the incident, the second child of Nereus and Rhode was born; a bouncing, perfectly healthy baby boy whom was given the name Meredith; it was in their eyes that he would be a great lord among the noble merpeople, perhaps become a leader of the people. The young merman had a lovely childhood; while he was constantly under watch by a bodyguard of the family ( whether he knew it or not ), he didn't seem to mind at first. He became a fast swimmer, a high jumper, and he absolutely loved playing with the few companions that were allowed to meet him. Often times when he had company, he would convince them to help him sneak out so he could explore more of the world. This was unfortunately why he was allowed so few visitors. While eventually the region would be blessed with a pair of adorable younger twins, Eddy preferred to play with others more close to his own age or try to figure out ways to escape and explore on his own. As Eddy developed and matured, his desire to go and explore was stronger and stronger. In particular, he'd heard of a thing. Well, less of a thing. Among hushed whispers he heard of a group of beings called 'humans,' which didn't have fins and lived above the water, on 'land.' Through his whole life, he'd not seen a single one, and in his soul began to grow the desire to see one, and maybe even talk to one. Some stories told of how fierce they were, voyaging across the water and using unavoidable traps to steal fish and unknowing merpeople away. Other stories told of how they used magic to create strange tools and boxes that displayed images, and still others told of how when they pricked the land with tools, strange and exotic foods spurted forth. Regardless, all stories held the same moral: humans were strange and frightening beings. Without an expert on humans to turn to, Eddy decided that the next logical step would be to, obviously, catch one himself, and explore their land. But how would he first get out of town...? He devised a simple plan; with permission from his parents, he would begin a tour and search for a mate among some of the other merpeople colonies in the ocean, and bring her back. When this plan was proposed, the noble parents agreed but only upon the terms that he travel with an escort of their choosing. The genius part of his plan was that he was going to ditch the luggage and aim for land. Not the most fully thought out idea but one that could work. And oh gosh the plan was so good it almost didn't happen. Seatown upon seatown was visited, and grand celebrations thrown where ever he went. Games were played, insane amount of food was eaten, dances danced, and ( one of his favourites ) sea horses were raced. At these affairs, he met many mermaids urging him to pick them, that she would be his one and only. More often than not, it was tempting to say yes and return home just as he said, but at night when he lay to sleep he would dream of people and their lack of tail fins. Decisions, decisions. Each town, he would ask about humans and if any where nearby, and one day he struck gold. During a celebration, he met a mermaid who promised to tell him where a group of humans were. Naturally, she had a price: he would marry her. A bit thoughtlessly, Eddy struck the deal with her. The girl guided him to a far off underwater cove that popped up and revealed land; but no humans. Granted, the air was a dark blue and difficult to see through... but Eddy still wanted to sea people; mere land wasn't enough. But he put on a smile and returned with her back to the ocean. Upon returning with the mermaid he made a declaration to his party that he had chosen his one, in which a party, larger than any at this point, was thrown. Everyone in the town came to celebrate--- and it was during this party Eddy made his grand disappearance. He excused himself, and managed to get his hands upon a rather fierce and powerful seahorse. Before long, he was tearing out of there as if demons were chasing him. Hopefully the party was good enough that no one figured he was gone. Being gone solved the problem of people being angry at him too; well, at least he wasn't there to hear it. So, problem solved! But anyhoe! Back to the cove he went, and when the water was too shallow for him to swim he dragged himself through the sand, fin and all. Ah, but what beach was graced with the fine presence of Meredith's blue finned derriere? Only a certain Rosa Beach, of course! PERSONALITY Meredith prefers to be referred to as Eddy. While Meredith is a masculine name, it is too long. And it's also commonly a girl's name as well. It flusters him to be called by his full name unless he's in trouble or being addressed by his parents. He does, however, introduce his full name when meeting someone because you must always say your full name when meeting someone. Or so he was taught. Eddy loves to play and examine things. If something strikes his curiousity he wants to learn all about it and see it and touch it and everything. His biggest curiousity is naturally, people! Unlike most other merfolk, he wishes to come into contact with one and actively seeks them out. When he wishes to do something, typically he will find a way. Not the most elegant or well thought out ways, but he will slam his head against the dam until it bursts or he falls asleep, so to speak. And even among merfolk he has incredible stamina. Not necessarily brute strength, however. In the water he is rather quick and graceful, but not so much on land. He is also a bit inconsiderate of other people's feelings, and often does things without thinking of how others might feel. It's not that he doesn't know how, it's more that he simply forgets until after the deed is done. If he feels bad enough then he will try to make it up afterwards but as the saying goes, it is easier to apologize than get permission. extra - While pearls are not the rarest of things, it takes a great deal of time and devotion to create one. A serious relationship requires both of those things as well, which Eddy is willing to do... once he's had his fill of adventure. He's only thirty okay. Anyhoe that is why the black pearl is his proposal item. - He eats fish. Some merfolk do, some don't. Granted, it's hard to cook but cooked fish is rather delicious. Not crabs or lobsters though, nor sea mammals or sea horses. To him, eating a crab would be the equivilant of a land person picking up and chowing down on a spider. - He doesn't know how to read human language. Books can't survive underwater, so thus he's never read a single word, doesn't even know what a human letter is. Regular ( read : merpeople ) writing though he's got down, although he prefers to swim about than sit and read. - What is magic? Eddy's ignorant about magic and how it works / what it does / existance of magical things. Even things that seem like magic are going to weird him out a little bit, or strike up his curiousity. - PS Meredith means Great Lord and is from W(h)ales. ooc NAME: FauxFox! Or Fau or Fox.
