[/color]t seems that no matter how far they go, what they do. Children would always come back to the place their grew up in. Acacia was that same child. After a tragic need to move she came back to her family home with the need to escape anything that brought the memories rushing back. Her feet carried her toward the front door, no need to knock, no need for a key. A twist of the handle allowed her access to the house she had grew up in. Her eyes differed to the walls before stepping inside. The slight click of the door followed as she bounced on each foot, trying to gain control of slipping her shoes off. Coming back here she had never thought she would be staying her, and for once she was glad she was not. She loved her family do not get her wrong. Yet at this point in time with wounds so fresh she just wished to be alone. Taking up in the local Inn she paid for a room as her bakery had started to be built. "Helllllloooooo"Her voice echoed into the house as her shoes hit the floor. Like always she left them were they had fallen not bothering to pick them up. Her feet carried her forward as she looked around for her family once more.[/blockquote][/blockquote][/justify][/size][/blockquote]

As they say, the prodigal son always comes back home. Or something like that. Except Josiah wasn't exactly prodigal and his father wasn't exactly welcoming, or something like that. At least not welcoming in the traditional sense. Ah, who was he kidding — Josiah knew his dad. Orion's disappointment was nearly palpable.
But it didn't bother him. Not like it should, anyways. Sure, it was annoying when he actually wanted to visit and whatever semblance of a happy mood he was in was ruined, but it didn't really get to him. His dad had every right to be disappointed, but Josiah just didn't care that much. He was an adult, for goddess's sake. He could make his own choices...being a doctor just wasn't one of them.
Regardless, the family held dinners every once and a while where all of his siblings (or, really, the ones that weren't busy) visited their childhood home and sat down with their parents to share a meal cooked by none other than Rosa herself. No matter how old you got, your mom's cooking was still nostalgic.
Just as he was coming up the walkway he saw Acacia's pink hair in the window to the entryway. Absentmindedly he wondered if either of his older siblings would show up (but they ahd their own responsibilities of course), but didn't hold too much hope for that. It was kind of ironic that the two children that show up for the family get-together was the one that moved away and the one that is a disappointment. But he felt some kind of familial obligation and truthfully he does love his family, even if some members don't always see eye to eye with him.
Walking in the front door as well he smiled, just a little bit, at his older sister. There was a two year age difference between them, so he was much closer to her than with his older siblings. Stepping inside he shed his shoes on the entryway's tiled floor and ruffled Acacia's hair playfully, no matter if it bothered her or not.
"Hey there, haven't seen you in a while," he mused, the smile on his lips becoming more real by the second. Josiah didn't want to be too negative around Acacia anyway; after she lost Aaron he didn't want to be a force that brought her down any more than she probably already was. "Are we the only two that showed up, besides mom and dad?"

Practically every single time they held these dinners, only half of their kids bothered to show up. And whenever only two of them showed up he lashed out a lot of his annoyance towards them and it just wasn't fair, although they had done things in their past to annoy him so it wasn't completely uncalled for.
He picked up a book that was lying on his desk and pretended to read, all the while listening for his children entering the house. They were all over the age of thirty, Josiah being exactly that, but they still acted like spoiled kids in his eyes, going in and out of their home as they liked, even though they weren't living there anymore. There were just so many things that bothered Orion about his kids, and often the only one who really knew that he did love them was Rosa.
"Tch. I hope they don't cause too much of a mess of themselves while they're here," he muttered, shuffling through the pages of the book he was fake reading. "You know I don't like cleaning up after them." Not that it was primarily Orion who cleaned up after their children, but you know, he liked to bitch about pretty much everything. "Why couldn't they just have been good kids and done what they were supposed to? It's not like I was asking too much of them." He sighed, placing the book back where he had found it. "At least Joe has a respectable job."
Orion was about to sit down in his chair when he heard the door open and shoes getting kicked off. He closed his eyes for a second, letting himself gain some calm before the storm, and then heard another enter the door. That was it then, the two youngest hoodlums of the pack, back home to have a free meal. He walked over to Rosa and leaned in, kissing her cheek. "We're doing them no favours," he whispered in her ear, then turned on his heel and back into his study. Hell if he was leaving that room before the food was done.

[atrb=border,0,true][atrb=cellSpacing,10,true] [atrb=style,width:320px,bTable] if i should try would you catch me if i fall?
Elijah rarely had an opportunity to come to the family dinners. Or, rather, every opportunity to come seemed to be two hours gone by the time he finally set his tools aside for the night and took mind to check the time. It wasn't deliberate to avoid any further scarring to his pride. There wasn't anything to gain from denying himself further interaction with them. There was really little to lose either. He scarcely saw them enough as it is, let alone spoke to them. Not that he was so cocky as to assume they were so desperate for his attention. Why would they be?
Nonetheless, Eli cherished what little that still remained, though he questioned at times how worthy he was of it. Especially so today when he noticed that, yes, he had finished a little earlier than usual and, no, he had no other plans for the evening. Which meant for an unproductive evening of wallowing should he not go and at least attempt to be part of the Waters family.
Even with the heavily emphasized family obligations, Marina didn't feel so obliged to come when her friend had invited her for a sleepover that same night. He rathered that she were happy doing what she wished than being miserable around the dinner table. Though he knew she certainly didn't feel the way he did being surrounded by their kin. His mind couldn't help wandering while he walked through the district, the impending evening cloaking the sky above in a thin layer of mauve velvet. Light up a cigarette and take a long relaxing drag of it as his feet took on a familiar path, one of his childhood when he'd run back for curfew to the delicious smell of mom's cooking.
Yet all he felt when he came upon the doorstep a few feet away was a heavy rock settle in his stomach. Fuck, where had he gone wrong.
Another long drag of his cigarette, coaxing another step out of his reluctant body. Even taking a deep breath to brace himself, Eli could only take in the musky smoke as he perched on the porch step. Finally, slowly, coming forward to face the door head on. He'd reach out for the doorknob and stop, fingers lingering on the cold surface as he thought. It would be rude to just let himself in. It wasn't his house anymore, though it would always be home to him. What dreaded feelings and ill memories came with that notwithstanding. Instead he reached up and, with the back of his scarred knuckles, rapped gently on the door for a few seconds before returning the hand to its cozy home within his coat pocket. While waiting for someone to come and answer the door, Eli hurried to scrape out the butt of his cigarette, stomping out the hot ash and kicking it amongst the grass.

[atrb=border,0,true]Usually, he never really came to family dinners. The kids always whined when he would. Not because they wanted him at home but because they wouldn't have anything to eat if he left. He learned not to trust his daughter with a stove in any circumstance. The girl could burn air if given the chance. But today, both of them had ended up going out. His daughter to some party - he trusted her not to do anything stupid - and his son to go hang out at some sleepover. Or. Whatever. He thought it was still a sleepover. Kids went to those these days, right?
But so, he had decided he'd go to dinner for the first time in ages. No harm in doing that, right? He didn't think it would be such a big deal. Of course, Nick had never been entirely aware of the situation that their family was in. He didn't quite realize or register in his head that most of the rest of them resented him. Or ... anything really. He didn't know personally but there probably wasn't anything that could be done about it. He whistled, his hands in his pockets as he strode up to the old Waters house. Taking in a deep breath as he took in the smell of their mother's cooking.
Eh? Was that Elijah? Yeah, it looked like him! He lifted a hand, waving at his younger brother. A stupid grin plastered on his face. "Eli!" He chirped. "Elijah!" It never occurred to him that he may not have been wanted. Nicholas drew closer, rolling back and forth on the heels of his feet while he waited for someone - as he presumed the other had already knocked on the door - to arrive and let the two of them in. "How the heck are ya? I haven't seen you in a while!" His words were running a mile a minute, Nicholas not even offering a moment's pause.
"How's Marina?"
A melancholy town where we never smile

[cs=2][atrb=border,0,true][atrb=cellSpacing,0,true][atrb=style, width:400px; border-bottom:solid 10px C4E36E; ,bTable][atrb=style,background-color:FCFCFC;] Rosa was busy the second she woke up. She began cleaning the whole house as her silly husband sat around and read books. She was excited to see her children again, brightened the day from having to stare at her husbands frown all the time. She loved him though, so she supposed it couldn't be helped that she had to do all the cleaning and cooking. Would have been nice if he helped at least a little. Especially with how large the house was, but Rosa was happy to be busy and on her feet. She'd always been like that since she was younger, never a moment to sit and rest always something to do. She supposed her husband was a nice contradiction.
Still, after the cleaning it was time to start cooking. Now, even though only two people confirmed they'd be going Rosa always made enough for all four of her children, just in case one showed up. She set up the table each time for all six of them in hopes that they'd show up. Or maybe just to show they're always welcome. She just had this impulse to do it, not sure why. Maybe she loved them all a little to much. None of them where failures as her husband believed. He was sitting and reading as the first two walked in, he went and retreated to his office, his touch always bringing a smile to her face even after all these years. That man was luckly she loved him.
She pulled the last dish she was cooking out of the oven, before heading for the door and seeing Acadia and Joe, she smiled, big happy to see them. She waved at them both "Come on in, I hope you all still know where the dinner table is! It'll be out in a moment!" She didn't want to be dumb and hug them and make them feel awkward, she just was happy to have them around. If they wanted to hug her and be loving, they would do that. They knew she'd love that, but wouldn't force anything on any of her children. Before she slunk back into the kitchen she stared at the door hoping to see her other sons open the door, but she sighed and walked over to her husbands study. She just cracked the door open and peeked her head in before stating, "Get your grumpy butt to the dinner table, Doc" and closing the door.
That was when she heard the door and, ran a bit faster then she probably should have to open the door. Sure enough Eli and Nick where standing there and she opened it fully. "You could have just opened it silly boys, you know our door is always open for you guys." She stated, letting the boys in. "Dinner is about to start so get seated alright?" And with that, Rosa went into the kitchen to make sure all her food was prepared and ready for take off.

She had not been standing there for a few seconds before the door was pulled and in stepped her younger brother Josiah. A small smile appeared upon her face as he bent down to slip his own shoes off just like she had done just moments before. The feel of a hand ruffling her hair cause that small smile to lift upward more so than before. "Hey Josiah" raising her hands upward she started to pat the hair out of place back. "So far I think so….I have yet to see Nicky or El" the sound of footsteps reached her ears before an elder lady stepped into the hallway they stood in. She had not seen her mother in such a long time, this would be the first time since she had walked back into this town.
While she spoke Acacia had moved forward her feet moving her to stand in front of her mother before her arms snaked out. Wrapping around the elder female she buried her head into the side of her neck as she gave her a small squeeze. Ah, she missed this warmth that only came from this woman. She held her for a minute or two before breaking the hug. No need to get emotional this was her mother, yeah she was fine back at home with family.
This group no matter their problems, no matter their choices in life. To Acacia they were her pillars and she needed them even if she never spoke about it. Reaching her hand out she ran it through her hair as her mother disappeared from her sight once more. The young female figured that she was going to order her father from his room the one place she had never wanted to be called into ever.
A knock was heard as she started toward the dinner table. Coming to a stop the female was going to turn around and head back to open it as her mother dashed passed her. Running when she really shouldn't be. Fear hit her quickly at the thoughts that came crashing down around her. What if she fell? What if she tripped while she was rushing toward the door? Why was she running just to open the damn door?
Calm down Acacia, calm down. Taking a deep breath she kept muttering the words in her mind as her body started to ease the stiffness. Out of all this time fear had yet to leave the female its claws still deep within her emotions. The door was opened to reveal her two elder brothers, forcing a smile on her face she raised her hand to give them a small wave.
