It was like a weight had been lifted off of his shoulders. Callum loved the inn — it was his life — but sometimes he really needed a break. He had like a grand total of two good friends (who didn't live in the inn) and he hadn't seen them for a long time.
He never realized how much work it was running this place...making sure that his guests were happy, the staff was working and doing their jobs, supplies weren't running out...the list got very long very quick. When he was a kid it always seemed like his parents weren't this busy but there were two of them.
So why was he doing this all by himself? It was stupid. At first it felt kind of weird, wanting to hire a manager, since he didn't have any family members to ask. It always seemed like it was a family business. But after the umpteenth morning of waking up at the crack of dawn to get ready for the day, he decided enough was enough. He needed some assistance.
And that's where Calipso came in. She was a strange girl but she was the only one willing to do the job. Apparently he was either too picky or there weren't any qualified people on this peninsula...maybe a bit of both. He wasn't really sure. All he knows about her is that she can do magic of some kind.
However, the festival was a different story. Everywhere in town was closed during the festival, save for the plaza. Everyone spent time with their friends and family...but, since Callum seemed to lack both of those, he just decided to stay at the inn...even if it was boring.
(notes: I kind of left it open for Cali to drag him to the festival ;w; )

Cali was off on her way to the flower festival, it was exciting. She loved festivals and buying flowers for her favorite place was right up on the top of her list. In order to get there, she had to pass by that particular place so, when she happened to see her boss in the window she couldn't help but pause and contemplate if she should take the moment to invite him. Not that it took long, he seemed lonely enough and it was a day for hanging out with friends. She wasn't surprised that he had none, he could be a little annoying, but he was just confident in his work so Cali didn't mind it much.
She opened up the door, walking inside and sitting down next to Cal and smiling at him. Today, she wasn't wearing much as usual a belly shirt and short shorts. Yeah, it was a little cool for that, it wasn't like it was summer weather. But Cali never got cold, never really dressed much warmer then this. So this wasn't much of a surprise. She dressed better for work, never much more though maybe just a tank top and jeans, but Cal knew this when he hired her so hopefully it wasn't that big of a deal.
She placed her hand on her cheek and smiled at him "Hey, let's go to the festival together and pick some flowers out for the inn okay?" She laughed "Or else I might pick something you hate that just wouldn't be good would it?"

He heard the little bell tinkle that was positioned above the door and looked to see who was coming in. He was about to say that the inn was closed and that only the people currently staying there could get food, but he kept his mouth shut when he realized it was Cali.
Callum didn't even get a chance to say hello before she came up and sat next to him, talking about how the place needed flowers or something. He was about to argue that he liked the place the way it is but it was a little drab and dreary.
Sighing, he stood up and stretched a little bit. "Fine, let's go," he said, not sounding very excited at all. It's not that he didn't like the springtime or the festival itself, but it always brought back memories of the family he no longer had, since he went with his parents every year.
It was still hard to deal with their death, even though they had been old. At least he didn't spend his time wallowing like he had shortly after they died, but then again...what was he doing sitting inside on such a nice day?
Making sure the closed sign was up in the window the turned to his light-haired second in command and waved her along as he walked out the door. "C'mon. Let's go get something that I don't hate, then."

((My muse is low so don't hate me if this post is short or something))
Cali was happy that Cal wasn't arguing with her. In fact, he seemed a little excited to hurry her out and go. She knew no one could resist a lovely day with a pretty girl like her. Not only that, but to be surrounded by flowers and nature was a wonderful thing that Cali knew was irresistible to anyone. Especially her, so when Cal told her to hurry out it didn't take long for her to agree, and she was on her way. She was leading, blabbering on and on about how she was excited for this years festival and how they should get some red and orange flowers for the inn. No real reason why, she just liked red and orange.
Cali finally shut up once she started to see lots of stands lined up, and she felt like dancing in the petals. Still, she had to be slightly professional for the boss. She honestly could care less if it didn't involve finding out something about her past. Not that he knew anything about it, all he knew was that she was a hard worker, and well, amazingly smart. Honestly, she should be running the place but Cal was doing a decent job with running it. She'd just have a few things be different that was all. Still, he loved the place and Cali could tell so it wasn't that big of a deal.
"So, which stand do you want to look at?" she turned and asked, not able to pick one herself. After all, it was still his inn and he should get the first opinion. Even if it probably would be wrong.
