It was always either of those two, or nothing at all, but honestly when it was nothing at all it couldn't even be counted as weather. Today the temperature was colder than it had been yesterday, but it was still pretty hot outside, and perfect for some farm work that desperately needed to be done.
There was always something to do on his ranch. Always some crop to grow or gather, or the ducks to feed. He had also been contemplating getting sheeps, because they seemed like peaceful creatures, and the noise they made would probably channel out the ducks more often than not. Then again, he really couldn't afford thinking about acquiring new animals right now, as he was fully into this season's vegetable sowing.
Leon had a habit of growing potatoes, tomatoes, watermelon and strawberries, all of the seeds you could get your hand on, really, during the spring season. And it also helped that the purplette was very fond of watermelons, especially during the summer. He loved them so much that they were probably what he grew most out of all of them, even though strawberries were pretty good too. He just couldn't wait for a hot summer eve to crack one open and eat under a shadeful tree. Picturing it in his mind, however, he thought he missed something. Someone, perhaps, to share with? Leon spent a few minutes thinking about it, but then quickly shook the idea out of his mind and began his work for the day. Those crops weren't going to be tended to by themselves now were they.
An hour and a half after, when the morning sun was just starting to peek it's light up over the area, Leon took a break. Hands dirty up to his wrists, he leaned back on his legs - while sitting on his knees in the dirt - and wiped away a few beads of sweat on his forehead with his arm. You had to take your time with farming, or else the result wouldn't be as great, and that's why Leon was always head into everything, focus at 100%.
But then he heard something behind him and soon after felt a tug at his elbow by something wet and soft. His eyes looked down immediately, and found a goat chewing happily on his sleeve. "What are you doing, little friend?" he laughed, letting it do as it pleased while he thought about where it had come from. He had a few immediate neighbors, so it took a while before it dawned on him whose goat this was.
With a gentle push of the goat, Leon stood up and straightened his back, massaging it's lower regions as it was always very sore after doing work. He looked down on the small animal and smiled. "Let's find your owner, okay?" It wasn't that he didn't like the sudden company, but the goat was probably not as much there to hang out with him as it was there to eat his crops, and he just couldn't have that. Not after all his hard work.
With another few gentle pushes, Leon led the goat out of his ranch and out to the road that connected all the ranches together, all the while looking around to see if the owner was present anywhere nearby. He didn't remember where her ranch was, however, so he just started walking in a direction and hoping it was the right one, all the while keeping tabs on the goat beside him.

[atrb=cellSpacing,0,true][atrb=cellPadding,0,true][atrb=border,0,true][atrb=valign,top] There was something about the fresh air that came with rural communities that the glamor of the city just couldn’t touch. A cityscape with all its dazzling lights had nothing on the stretches of greenery and the rustic charm she found in Sepalum. All and all, she fell in love with the town with all of its charm, remaining around longer than she thought. The people were great too—well, most of them. Every town had its collection of unpleasant people, after all.
She supposed it was impossible to like everyone and she really didn’t care to try nor did it matter much if she were well liked either. Company was good, but only when they were people who truly liked her for her and not some fabricated cover. The same could be said for others. It was just better that way so she made sure to be known who she did and didn’t like. For the most part, she got along well with most of the people she had met so far, a certain rancher in particular.
He was her purpose for visiting the section of down devoted to farmland with its rolling fields of rich green and plots filled with growing plants. The air was rich with the scents of spring—flowers and a particular smell she could never put words to—and she inhaled deeply to savor the fragrance. Above her, the sun shone down on her and warmed the air, although it was still pleasantly cool. The day was beautiful and she loved beauty in every shape and form. It was the reason she was a treasure hunter, after all.
While wondering through the hard packed dirt roads, she spotted the very purple haired man she had come to visit. Their relationship was strictly friendship and nothing more, of course, but his company was often sought for the simple reason that it was enjoyable. Her eyes dropped to the cute goat he was walking with. “What a cute goat,” She chimed. Prim had no luck with animals—that isn’t to say they didn’t like her, it was more that she didn’t know the first thing about caring for them—but she loved them all the same.

Maybe one of them had chewed through the fencing and that's how they were getting out...because it really seemed like she had to go find one every other day, and it was really causing a lot of stress on the young, blonde rancher.
After searching the perimeter of her ranch once again, she determined that the kid had gotten out and ran off like they always seemed to do. Sometimes these animals proved to be more than she could handle, but she didn't want to admit that. Besides, goats were her passion, even if they were tough to handle some times.
Stepping out onto the gravel road she started to make her way one direction, hoping she would find the goat. Freja really needed a horse for this kind of work...she would be able to move faster and farther and she'd have a leg up over the road to be able to see in all the nooks and crannies of the ditches next to the road. Nonetheless, she was horseless. It would be just her luck too, if she got a horse that decided to run away.
As she kept walking down the road she spotted a shock of purple hair in the distance and she instantly knew who it was. There was only one purplette rancher who lived nearby, and that was Leon. He was quite a bit older than her but...Freja couldn't help that she thought he was attractive. It wasn't even anything serious, just a little crush; the kind that schoolgirls got. Her intentions were purely innocent, of course - she didn't even really have any intentions.
But she couldn't help the slight pang of...jealousy? Sadness? When she saw an unfamiliar yet beautiful woman walking with him, her long light hair floating in the breeze. Men always seemed to like women with long hair...or at least that was what her mother had told her when she originally started to cut her hair into the pixie cut it was in today. Freja had thought that was a joke at the time, but now she could see it might be true.
Trying to not seem disappointed (she was probably just a friend...just a friend), she finally noticed the small animal walking at their side...a brown kid goat, the same one that had escaped from her farm earlier today.
"Leon!" she called out happily. "Leon, I think you've found my goat that ran off." Despite the woman that was in his company she still couldn't help but smile...partially because the goat had been found and partially because she just liked to be around him. They were friends, so even if she didn't have the little lingering crush, she would've been happy anyway. | | tagged: leon and prim words: 460 notes: idk i'm kind of just going with it.........i haven't done a group thread in ages made by habbue |

[atrb=cellSpacing,0,true][atrb=cellPadding,0,true][atrb=border,0,true][atrb=valign,top,true] leon madsen Leon had no idea how to raise goats, or even how to handle goats, but he thought the little thing walking beside him bleating happily was acting rather pleasant for sudden company. He wouldn't mind just walking like this for a moment, as he did very much enjoy the silent sounds of nature. Before too long, however, a certain blonde woman appeared in front of him - out of nowhere, he thought - and he offered her a shy smile before returning it's shape to normal, which in most cases got himself called "cold", even though he wasn't by a long shot. Well, not in his own mind. "Hey." The greeting was casual and easy, he felt, before his round orbs found the creature Primrose commented on. Leon smiled down at the goat, liking it's company, then returned his gaze to the girl after having dropped the smile again. Smiling was tiring, he thought. "What are you doing down here?" he wondered, looking around to see if there was anyone else in their presence. "Treasure hunting again?" He looked up at the sky and let out a heavy breath. As long as it wasn't on his ranch, he was fine with it. "You're lucky with the weather if that's what you're doing, I guess." Primrose was a familiar and well liked face, however, so he didn't deny her, whatever reason she had for being out there. It wasn't too often that he got to see her, so it was pleasant. Just like the goat. Although comparing them probably would be bad, since girls seemed to reject the idea of being similar to an animal, despite how much he loved animals. He gave a light shrug with his shoulders and was about to continue his search when he heard a voice behind him, that was also familiar. Could it be the girl he was searching for? With a rather slow turn of his body - but then when did he ever move quickly - he saw a short haired blonde in the distance, which was indeed the girl he had been looking for. When she reached the both of them, Leon offered a shy smile to her as well, and then looked down at the goat. "We found your owner, little guy." Or girl, he had no idea what gender that goat was. "He was lurking around on my ranch," he told her, "and I thought I'd better find you so you knew - but then you already did, it seems." In reality, he was only doing this so that the goat wouldn't eat his crops, but no one needed to know that. "I've seen several of your goats around town, though," he then said after stopping to think for a minute. "You might have a broken fence or something .. or you need a higher one." Goats were famous for their jumping, after all. "If you want, I could help you fix .. whatever the problem is." He didn't really know if he was offering his hand because he really wanted to help or if he just wanted her company. Despite her age, the young rancher was a neighbor he liked, just as much as Primrose. He'd better not tell them that either. In fact, he decided to not say anything unless it seemed like a positive thing, for either of them. tagged: freja & prim ♦ words: 560 ♦ notes: he's awkward, idk- made by habbue |

[atrb=cellSpacing,0,true][atrb=cellPadding,0,true][atrb=border,0,true][atrb=valign,top] Discs of sparkling blue rolled up to peer at Leon through the yellow fringes of her eyelashes until she tilted her head up to look fully at him. Her lips were pulled in a brilliant smile which exposed rows of white teeth and the corners of her eyes crinkled just a bit. “I’m just taking a walk,” she answered innocently. Treasure hunting wasn’t on her mind until he brought it up, though now she wondered if there was anything to find in the endless fields. “It is a fine day for treasure hinting though, isn’t it?”
She spoke with confidence and ease as conversation came almost naturally to her. The young—in terms of magical beings, anyways—witch was a social creature who never had a problem making idle chatter with anyone. Prim liked hearing her voice as much as she enjoyed hearing everyone else’s. Silences unnerved her, bringing her imagination out of hibernation and making it run wild. With Leon, however, she enjoyed a comfortable quiet with him when it happened. Like the one that settled over them now.
It, like many other things in the world, didn’t last long. A voice called out from behind them and attracted the blonde woman’s attention. She discovered the familiar face of Leon’s neighbor, Freja, smiling up at Leon as she approached. They spoke amongst each other for a few moments until Prim grew tired of playing the background character. “Hello,” she greeted warmly, despite the pang of annoyance that sprung up at being overlooked. Leon wasn’t the only one there after all.
Before she spoke, her eyes flickered towards the goat then back to Freja. “So that adorable creature is yours?” She tucked a windswept lock of hair behind her ear. “It seems the adventurous type. Has it run away before?” The appearance of the other girl meant another person to talk to but she had a feeling she was more interested in the purple haired man beside her. Did she have feelings for him? Prim wouldn’t know nor did she care to. “What is its name?”

Freja felt an embarrassed burning on her cheeks when Leon mentioned that her goats had been escaping quite frequently. It was true; there must be something wrong with her fence or maybe they were just finding ways out themselves. Goats were terribly smart, or so she had experienced since starting to raise them. It was a bit of a double edged sword, however; they were escaping, but at least they weren't escaping to eat her flower crops.
When the purplette offered to help her fix her fence she nodded a bit, feeling a bit shy and overwhelmed by Primrose's presence. The woman was confident and a bit intimidating to short little shy Freja, not to mention that the witch was stunning and Freja saw herself as just...plain, maybe a bit better than plain but nothing to the caliber of Prim.
"That would be nice, thank you so much, Leon," she said, her voice a bit quiet. "For finding the goat and offering to help—" she continued, but was cut off by Prim's greeting. Nodding in her direction she mumbled a slight 'hello' back, feeling even more timid.
As the blonde witch spoke, Freja knelt down and scooped the goat into her arms, petting its head softly as it flopped its ears around a bit. Baby goats were playful and it didn't take long for the goat to start nibbling at her hair and shirt collar.
"Oh, yes, the goats are very, um, adventurous," she said, trying to have a normal conversation despite her shyness. Talking to someone like Leon was different; she did find him attractive, but they were friends and neighbors and had similar professions and he was a bit quiet, just like her. Prim was on a completely different level.
"This one hasn't escaped, until now I guess...but most of them do. Sometimes I catch them before they run off..." she continued to explain, her voice trailing a bit as Prim kept asking questions.
"Oh, no. He doesn't have a name yet," she said. "I usually don't give the kids names because I sell them but, um...you could give him a name if you wanted?"

[atrb=cellSpacing,0,true][atrb=cellPadding,0,true][atrb=border,0,true][atrb=valign,top,true] leon madsen He was surrounded by beautiful girls, and if he had any sense to him, or if he was anyone else, he would have been blushing and stuttering his words. Then again Leon wasn't that type of guy. He wasn't shy, like the cute short blonde next to him, he just didn't always feel the need to be the outward social butterfly that the beautiful strawberry blonde on the other side of him was. He actually secretly loved it when people came to him on their own will, because it meant he didn't need to seek out company on his own, which benefit him in all the ways. He could get things done on his farm, he could tend to his ducks as much as they needed it, he could get the sleep he himself needed, and all the other things that had to be done. It turned out Primrose wasn't on a trasure hunt, though. She was just on a walk. It did spark an interest in him where he wondered why she was taking a walk right here, but he supposed it was coincidental. Why would she take a walk by his farm anyway? It wasn't as if she was in love with him or anything, like the lovesick little kids in town were. They did anything to prove their love to each other. In some way it seemed nice, Leon thought, but a little unecessary perhaps. If you loved someone, why not just tell them? Why not just save the time you would spend on the agonizing wait while you could already be cuddling around with the sweetheart of your dreams, but then the romance would be cut off a little short, he guessed. Leon shrugged lightly, wondering why his thoughts had taken him to love all of a sudden. Maybe because he had two pretty girls accompanying him? He made a mental note to go over to Freja's farm to fix whatever was broken, after the youngest of the group had thanked him for his offer. He'd have to bring most of his tools too, as he had no idea what would be broken or how he had to fix it. Time would tell, he thought. The purplette had to smile - it was a small one, barely recognizable - when Prim suddenly greeted Freja. He wasn't sure if he should have, in case they already knew one another, but apparently they didn't and now he felt bad for overlooking the young witch. "I'm sorry," he mumbled, eyes drooping. He had nothing to contribute to the starting conversation between them, so he just stayed silent. While the girls talked about .. whatever they were talking about - Leon's mind was drifting away somewhere, as it did from time to time - the twenty-six year old yawned, not hiding it as he never did. He guessed Freja would be used to it, taking no offense, but perhaps Prim did. He didn't know her that well yet. He had only occasionally seen her around town, and finding her on his premises hunting for treasure. At the time, Leon had told her that all the treasure she would find was himself and the ducks, as he had no interest in material matters. That was why he kept no fancy or shiny objects within the walls of his house. His farm wasn't even that big to begin with, so why bother ornating it with useless junk? He was daydreaming, half asleep now. He wouldn't even come back to reality unless someone shouted at him, or shook him. And again, one of the girls probably knew about this tendency to drift and was probably used to it, so a small part of him felt bad for ignoring Primrose. tagged: freja & prim ♦ notes: he's prone to drifting, nbd. someone get him back to reality or he'll just stay like that made by habbue |
