FAQ
Q: Can I play a mermaid?
A: Yes! This summer we are allowing mermaids. The membergroup comes with a special event.
Q: Can I play a magic user other than a witch or wizard?
A: Unfortunately the only magical beings in this roleplay are witches and wizards, to keep things simple. If you have a good suggestion for a new magical being, however, and have a convincing argument, PM Terra.
Q: How long ago was the war between the Harvest Goddess and the Destruction God?
A: The war was 70 years ago, and lasted for around 10.
Q: What shop owners are taken? Can I make my own shop?
A: The list of shops as well as shopkeepers and employees can be found here. You can certainly make your own shop! If it is a member-created shop and not a "canon" shop (they are separated on the shop list) you can roleplay out interactions there in the MEMBER SHOPS board in the business district.
Q: Hey! I have a cool idea for the site! Who do I talk to about it?
A: We love getting suggestions here at TIH! Hearing input from our members is how we keep the site enjoyable for you. You can post your suggestions and ideas HERE! (But, keep in mind that the admins are not obligated to apply these suggestions as they are or at all.)
Q: What can magic do on TIH?
A: The magic is pretty expansive, but realistic. You can't do anything overpowered (no killing, no bringing people back to life, no mind control or manipulation, nothing that contradicts the site wide plot, no controlling nature, no summoing or conjuring things out of thin air, etc.) Healing magic, elemental magic, infusing magic, etc. are completely allowed. Which means to say you could heal wounds and injuries, control water or fire (think avatar, you need a body of water to control it), or perhaps even infuse your magic into things to make them magical in turn. However we do reserve the right to reject any form of magic that we feel are too close to powerplaying. You can also have spells, wands, rituals, the lot, but there is a limit to your magic level. And unless you level up you are unable to use more than one spell, at all, unless they are small and insignificant. If you have any questions, feel free to ask Terra!
Q: I want a dark plot, but Harvest Moon isn't very dark. What is allowed?
A: While Harvest Moon is a light and happy game, we realize that light and happy isn't always the most fun to roleplay. Heck, some of us crave angst all the time. Since there has been a lot of talk about what is allowed and not allowed, we're going to set the record straight.
Characters may be alcoholic, smoke cigarettes, smoke marijuana, or just be generally angsty. Your character is certainly free to have any sort of things in their history, such as overbearing or abusive parents, anything to do with drugs or alcohol and the like.
The things that are not allowed is a shorter list. Parental death is okay but under no circumstances may characters be murderers themselves. Characters cannot do any hard drugs or sell them. (Remember that these things are allowed in histories.)
Under no circumstances will sexual abuse of any person of any age be accepted. This is too touchy of a subject and we'd prefer it if it just was kept out of the site all together.
If you have any questions about this or would like to discuss this matter, please PM Terra.
Q: I want to use a face claim from a game, but can I use cg art onsite?
A: We'd really prefer it if you didn't, because it would mess with the whole animanga aesthetics of this site.
Q: *INSERT LOTS OF STUFF ABOUT MERMAIDS HERE!*
A: I've been getting a ton of questions about merpeople so this question will be constantly updated with the mermaid facts!
How do merpeople reproduce?: You obviously can't do the do in your posts but some people are just really...curious, I guess. In order to spare people who don't wanna read about reproduction, I'm gonna link you to the dolphin reproduction wikipedia page. Seriously, don't read it if anything sexual squicks you out or makes you feel uncomfortable. That's my disclaimer for the day.
How do mermaids give birth?: Since merpeople are mammals, they give live births. If you read the link above, it might make more sense, but if you didn't, basically...there's a slit on the frontside of the mermaid's tail, like 6ish inches underneath where the body and tail meets. That's where the baby merperson is born from. It's the same exact as a human birth.
Mermaids are also pregnant for 9 months, just like humans (and unlike dolphins who are pregnant for 12. Yikes.)
Can merpeople and humans have babies?: Theoretically yes. It would be easiest probably if the merperson could be on land long enough to, er. Mate with the human. But I suppose the human could, er. Mate with the merperson in the water. It's really up to you. But it doesn't matter because you can't roleplay out that stuff anyways!
Can merpeople get drunk?: Yes, they can, and quite easily. Thanks to research by Sai, fish are apparently super lightweight...and alcohol is actually poisonous to them. But since mermaids are half humans, half fish, the way it works is that merpeople are just extremely lightweight but drinking alcohol won't kill them. Well, it can kill them, just like it can kill a human. Keep that in mind.
