[atrb=style, background-color:#eee; max-width:360px; ] he thought he could make it. donovan only wanted to reach the general store and make it back again. but the man wasn't use to these human legs. the sand was hot against his feet and the pavement hurt to walk barefoot on. he continued to stumble and fall, tripping over his own two feet. there were points when he had to crawl across the floor because he just couldn't figure out how to stand and stay upright. donovan didn't own a map and he'd never been into the town before. he had no idea where he was going or which direction the general store was in. before he could make it, his legs gave out beneath him. only they weren't legs anymore. an audible growl escaped the merman's lips, his nails clawing at the ground. the khaki pants he'd been wearing- and had the decency to put on when he came out of the water- were now tangled around his tail. no matter which way donovan turned his head, he saw no sign that pointed to the general store. instead, he found one for the fish store. what did they do there? sell fish? supplies for fishing? he crinkled his nose in disgust and spat at the doorstep. murderers, these people were. now, donovan was in quite the predicament. his tail slapped against the hot concrete as he rolled over onto his stomach and tried to pull himself across dry land. but the hard surface irritated his scales as they were pulled against it. he'd already made it this far and donovan wasn't turning back. he had only wanted fresh fruits and vegetables- something that the sea couldn't supply him with. but now he was stranded among humans. maybe he should invest in a skateboard to roll himself through the streets. open |
