He came out here in the forest for two reasons to get away from his family and people in general. It being his day off, Jake spent the day goofing off on his own since his twin had work today. Other than Jacob, he didn’t really have anyone else to hand out with his age. He was not in the bests of moods today. Before he left this morning he had a huge fight with his father about many different things. The argument between them was so bad that the sixteen year old didn’t want to go back home. Now the problem was where was he going to spend the night. He could always try and sneak in late at night, but he highly doubted that would even go well for him. He was way too clumsy. He let out a sigh. Why did such things keep happening to him? Everything he did his father disapproved it. He often found himself wondering why couldn’t he be like his brothers instead of being an idiot. Jake continued to wonder around the forest. It didn’t conquer to him that he could get himself lost. Then again, he did not really care. That always seemed to happen to him anyway. After all, he had nothing else better to do. Going home would only lead to getting yelled at for multiply reasons. He let out a long yawn, stretching his arms out in the air over his head. Maybe he should go take a nap somewhere. Sleeping always did make him forget all his troubles. But, taking a nap in the forest probably wouldn’t be a good idea on his part. The sixteen year old sighed. He should probably head back to town. He scanned the area around him finally realizing he had no clue to where the hell he was. Just great…. Now what was he going to do? There was no one to ask for directions since he was alone in the forest. He was pretty much screwed. [atrb=border,0,true][atrb=cellSpacing,10,true] [atrb=style,width:320px,bTable] there's a reason to madness which makes me afraid
The perfect day to go and saw some logs. Literally, as much as Elijah wished his routine had allowed him a few more hours of sleep. It was still dark, dawn just peeking her tired eyes over the horizon, when the stoic father stirred his daughter for school. Breakfast was a hearty helping of hashbrowns, fish, and tomatoes, half of which the young girl returned to the fridge. After devouring his own large portion, he made the each of them a simple lunch, sandwiches and fruit [with his containing that rejected portion of fish]. Marina hardly cared for affectionate goodbyes, but she endured him as he held her briefly, patting her head softly as he came back upright. The moment she was free, she ran right out the door and into her morning.
Elijah watched out the window until she disappeared beyond the next street. With a wistful sigh, he returned to his preparations.
Trailer and tools in tow, Elijah pulled the heavy load through the forest line. The section he would be chopping down was an older segment, dense with trees and thick shrubbery. He erected a small camp within minutes of arriving at the designated section, complete with a small tent shelter in case of rain. Having no need for bashfulness or the restraint of damp cotton, the carpenter removed his t-shirt and exposed his muscular torso to the air. Sweat gleamed from his brow and body for the next few hours, the hard crack of axe against wood echoing through the air.
Until he heard something else join him.
Whether it animal or human, it mattered to ensure the safety of all within the area. He held his hand to his brow and squinted, trying to make out the concealed figure in the dark wood. There was surely something there. Heavy too, judging from the weight of its tread across the brambles. A human or a larger animal. Cocking his axe up against a tree to mark his spot, Elijah wandered over to make certain that his old senses weren't playing tricks on him. Though he had little to no grace, caution told him to approach as slowly and silently as possible to not spook... whatever it was. Relief flooded his already weary features as the picture became clearer, the wandering young man revealed. He had made many visits to the local blacksmith and recognized the crestfallen face of the boy almost immediately.
With an authority that only possessed him deep in the wood, Elijah called out to the brunette Cartney twin. "Oi! Kids shouldn't be out this far in the woods. Whatever you're doing, it's much safer to do it somewhere else."

In the same motion, he lost balance, tumbling to the ground. Eventually, the sixteen year old landed face first, getting a mouth full of dirt. He spat out the mass of dirt that had gathered in his mouth, Jake got back up to his feet and bushed himself off. Slowly, he turned around to face Elijah. He sighed in relief once he saw it was not his father. “I’m not a kid. ‘Sides I can handle myself perfectly fine.” He said, ignoring the fact he just tripped. He wanted to believe himself, but in the back of his mind he knew he had a lot more growing up to do. Even if he would not admit it to anyone. Which is why the kid was in this predicament of not having anywhere to go tonight. Being told by the same man who yelled at you almost every day of your life that you should be more mature was not an easy thing. Both of Jake’s parents wouldn’t listen to what he wanted to do with his life and disapproved of every little thing he did. He put aside those thoughts for later. He more important things to deal with such as where was he going to sleep tonight. “Um… To tell the truth I’m actually lost…” he trailed off a little embarrassed of his actions. He gave a fake smile in efforts to hide the fact that his was really upset inside. Getting lost was not something new to him either was falling on his face, but actually having a big fight with his father was. He often did what he was told. However, he wanted more to life than just doing what his parents wanted out of their child. “Could you maybe point me in the direction back to town or something?” Jake questioned, chocking his head to the side. The only problem with that would be that his father was probably looking for him after he stormed off like that. He was not allowed to be in the woods alone not since the incident he had as a little kid. If he went back into town, he would most likely just get yelled at once more. So, going back was a big no.
