HISTORY Drew Winchester was born with low expectations in spring. While her parents owned a ranch far from the Sepalum Peninsula - why, they never even heard of it - she was never expected to do any of the work. Her mother, who had been in the ranching business far longer than her father, wanted to give their only child a chance to grow up and set her own life choices. It turned out this was the wrong thing to do. Instead of teaching her hard work, Drew would stay inside all day watching TV, reading or writing. Off in her own little fantasy world. She'd only set out at night time to the barn to observe the animals. She always had a soft spot for them, but for the life of her... The smell always pushed her away. Drew lived a rather sheltered life even though her mother persisted she find her own way. She wasn't allowed to do the laundry. She wasn't allowed to help on the ranch (not like she wanted to) and she wasn't even allowed to go into town without one parent with her. It isolated her from other people. She had no friends because she was home schooled. She wasn't given the opportunity to grow. So some issues started to rise up. The depression, the anxiety. She became paranoid of the outside world, thinking there to be something wrong with it. That it was horrible in some way. That she needed her parents to protect her. Her only solace lied in books. She loved reading and making up stories of her own. It passed the time, but she did grow bored with her "prison" over the years. She'd seen all the animals, the buildings... On sheer rebellion, she was a teenager now after all, she decided to go into town by herself. She hitched one of the horses to the cart - she'd seen it done so many times by now she was almost a pro at it - and set off. Last time she was in town was when she was younger. It all seemed bigger then. But the people... There were so many. She started to feel overwhelmed. People calling from the shops to sell wares, people talking to each other with ease, chatter and more chatter. Drew was so focused on what other people were doing, she didn't see the little girl until it was too late. The horse shifted to the side, but the cart wasn't fast enough. Drew heard a cry, gasps from the crowd. She jumped down and saw a little girl holding her ankle, wailing. She just nicked the girl with one of the wheels but it was enough to make it bleed a little. And little girls were sensitive. People were crowding, some becoming a bit angry. She didn't know what happened in those minutes. It just felt natural. She held her hands over the ankle and relaxed. A light appeared and it just felt... well, there was no words to describe it. The wound closed itself up. Well, part of it. The girl's parents immediately plucked her away, the rest of the group starting to stand back. Magic was not heard of where Drew came from. It was unnatural, the thing of legend and myth. But she didn't know what she did wrong. She thought she was helping. The group didn't resist her (though a few called her unpleasant things) as she got back to the ranch as quickly as possible. When she told her parents, they reacted immediately. They said she had to leave. For her own safety. Leave? Her home? There was some fighting, tears and such, but Drew consented in the end. With nothing but a few silly things such as childhood memories, the clothes on her back, she left the ranch through the woods accompanied by her folks. Her mother said she was "always special". This was just one of those things proving it. She didn't understand much of what was said, only that a boat would take her to another place where she would be accepted. Pay was going to be provided for housing, she'd get a job no sweat. Drew was anxious but she tried to be brave. She didn't want her folks to get in trouble because of her. When they got to the docks, they said goodbye and she was off to the Sepalum Peninsula. Her folks provided, having recent connections to the town in terms of crops and produce. She had a home now, all by herself. She found a job at the library that suited her taste for knowledge and though she was still a bit wary about revealing her "gift", she saw others with abilities. For the years that followed her stay, she's grown into a more confident young woman that is able to do things by herself. Though she keeps to herself, preferring the company of books and practising her gift in secret. SKILLS + magic: LEVEL ONE + mining: LEVEL ONE + fishing: LEVEL ONE ETCETERA + Drew suffers from clinical depression, anxiety - both social and normal - and androphobia. She takes medication for the first two, but there is no medication for the last. Androphobia is a fear of men, and because of her rather sheltered lifestyle this developed from her social anxiety. Besides her father, she doesn't know how to talk to the opposite gender. She will go very far out of her way to avoid men, though she can handle little boys. + A bit of a night owl, Drew can be seen wandering around suitable places (meaning places she thinks are safe in town) after dark if she isn't at her home. + While Drew is fond of animals, she cannot see herself taking care of them full time. She's actually pretty lazy and procrastinates. Working at the library is the only job that is boring enough for her to sweep her way through. + Strangely, her magic can only be used to heal. Her hands will itch and throb, signalling if somebody nearby is hurt. It doesn't have to be a human. It works the same for merpeople and animals. + To avoid using her magic, and also getting caught having it, Drew studies herbology when she can. She has basic knowledge of herbal remedies and knows certain wild foliage that can cure simple things like wounds. + Though she often complains of them, she nursed two rabbits back to health. She keeps them in her house. Aside from her rabbits, she has a medium haired black and white tomcat that she's had for five years. + Her Birthday is June 31st + Drew stands at exactly 5'9" and weights 110 pounds.
