[atrb=border,0,true][atrb=cellspacing,0,true][atrb=valign,top] | [atrb=valign,top] ◄ | Ah, Saturday. A day of well deserved rest from a week of arduous work. Whatever the profession was, ranching, managing, bartending- everyone needed a day to themselves. It was healthy. Especially in the middle of a blazing summer like this one. The beach was populated with people of all kinds sunbathing and swimming. The usual flower colored umbrellas sprouted all over the sand. Seagulls squawked loudly trying to scavenge for some good leftovers. Orville wished he were sun bathing as well but, he needed money for college and he couldn’t just ask his aunt for it. She needed it for her new business. So there he was pushing his small frozen treats and drinks cart. A little bell on the front swung excitedly as he pushed the cart over sand dunes and around colorful towels. He smiled politely attempting not to hit children.
Overall he’d been doing pretty well so far. No one could resist something cold and sweet after the saltiness of the ocean found its way into your mouth. It seemed particularly hard to resist when the handsome vendor himself was busy snacking on a frozen fudgesicle himself. The blonde found that it was easier to sell ice cream if he looked like he was enjoying it more than without. He supposed people wanted what others had an all that. Whatever. It was working. Just a little bit more and he’d be done in no time. Orville smiled to himself as he finished off the popsicle and glanced at the ocean. He had it all planned out now. After the end of his shift he’d take a small dip and then bum around under an umbrella for a few hours to work on his tunes. He felt a small bump stopping his cart. Absently the teenager gave it harder push to force the cart over.
He hadn’t realized the obstacle had actually been a person’s limb. Orville’s eyes widened as he heard the noise of pain before pulling back his small cart only to have it go over the human limb a second time. “Shit!” he hissed wishing he’d seen whatever he had now run over twice. “I’m very sorry about all this.” He said feeling the horrible tingle of multiple pairs of eyes on him and his mistake. At least he thought he’d found a job where nothing could go wrong. His two left feet wouldn’t mess it up for him because all he had to do was push a damn cart! No. As per usual, something unfortunate had to happen to the penniless composer.

A day off. Though she was well used to them, being on the island for so long, she treasured them just the same. Her job at the library was dull and tedious work. She would hide in the isles so to not talk to anybody, pretend she was busy to not help anybody out and most of all; hide away in the deepest parts to read the books available until break. That was her usual day. She did, however, enjoy re-stocking the shelves. Though that was still tedious work and she knew her way around the library by now that it was quick work. So really, she had nothing to do until work was over. She often wondered why she wasn't fired by now, but she supposed they needed all the help they could get. And now she was at the beach. Drew Winchester hated the beach. She was self-conscious. She had social anxiety. It was absolutely boring here unless you had a friend to talk to. Why was she even here? Well, she had nothing else to do. Check and mate. This is what you did when it was summer time. You went to the beach. Like a regular person. She was a regular person. Nothing weird about her at all. Nope. Just a normal human being.
She bit her lip, a bit nervous to be around all the curvy women. She herself wasn't that much to look at - though that could just be her self esteem talking. Her wavy long blonde hair was tied up in a messy bun, strands of it running along the front. She had a simple maroon coloured bikini on that didn't leave much to the imagination. If it was up to her, she would have wore a one-piece. The store was mysteriously sold out of them. She felt half naked and would probably get a damn sunburn at the end of this day. She always did get sunburns. It's what happened when you rarely got out of the house. Drew wasn't here for a tan or social call. She'd lived here for awhile now and still hadn't seen all the marvels the islands held. Technically this was her first time at the beach with so many people. She didn't want to miss --
"Ow! she yelped, not understanding her own pain. It just happened so fast. One moment she was standing there, taking in the sights and the next thing she knew her foot hurt horribly. The young woman felt her eyes water as the pain came again. It was only then she realized that somebody was standing nearby. Er, wheeling more like. Gathering up her indignant festering emotions, she tried as calmly as she could to look at the other people who didn't even try to fumble over their apology. It was a guy. She was immediately put off by this. If her foot wasn't hurting so much, she would have ran off by now. Instead of staring at him, she stared at the ground. Some would think this impolite, but she didn't care much at this moment.
Drew was one to get upset over tiny things. If some idiot wasn't watching their cart and actually rolled it over somebody, they were allowed an accident overlook. But if they did it again... Why, it was just... She just... Ugh. OK, calm down, girl. "I-I... I'm OK. I-It doesn't feel broken or anything." This much was true. It just hurt. A lot. [atrb=border,0,true][atrb=cellspacing,0,true][atrb=valign,top] | [atrb=valign,top] ◄ | Orville frowned at the sight of the woman. Fantastic. If she made a whole lot of noise because of this it was sure to get back to his employer. He’d only looked away for like two seconds anyway. He’d thought her foot had been trash or a piece of driftwood. He paled a little at the thought. Usually he crushed driftwood that was too deep to move over. He shook his head a little pushing away the thought before attempting to get the blonde’s attention. She seemed to refuse to look at him and he wasn’t sure whether it was the fact that there were still a few people string at the incident or if she was just a little too upset to look at him. “Listen, I didn’t realize it was your foot. I’m very sorry.” The teenager apologized again hoping to sound sincere.
He always seemed to lack that true emotion when he spoke. Especially, when he apologized. Orville set to work hoping to amend the situation. He opened his little cart and dug through it. All he had was a lot of ice cream and some drinks. “Here, put something cold on it, free of charge.” The young man suggested pulling out a water bottle and leaning over to leave it on the woman’s foot before going back to his cart unsure what else he could do for her. “So, you’ve broken your foot before then?” Orville asked curiously. Personally he’d never broken anything. Just the occasional hand cramps and some strained ankle.
He still felt like a free water bottle for a bruised foot wasn’t exactly enough. The blonde tried to imagine his employer’s expression before deciding to offer a bit of free ice cream as well. Maybe something sweet would cheer the woman up. He worked many part time jobs and he knew how to pick out an unhappy customer when they appeared. “Tell ya what, Tell me your favorite flavor of ice cream. I’ll give you a discount.”

Drew just stood there like an idiot, staring at the ground. She didn't know by now if it was because of her phobia or if she saw the guy's face again she'd make a huge scene. Not that she was strong enough to punch the guy in the nose, or brave enough to... Well, OK. Truthfully she wouldn't do a damn thing. Acutely aware of people watching, she bit her lip. Didn't they have anything else to do besides traverse on other people's business? It's not like he cut her foot off and was waving it around! "It's OK" she muttered when he apologized again. Really. She didn't want to make this a huge deal. Clearing her throat, she repeated louder; "it's OK." Like stated, her foot hurt but it wasn't serious. She was calming down. Of course when you got hurt you'd be angry and accusing, but she realized it was just a dumb accident. Rustling made her look up, getting a good look at the other for the first time. She did not associate looks with personality, therefore had no immediate opinion of him. Though she guessed he was younger. When he straightened up, leaning toward her feet with a water, she felt her cheeks heat up. Really, this wasn't necessary. The young woman could always just hobble over to the water and soak.
"I'm fine. Fine! Take it back, really" she fumbled over her words as she bent down to pick up the bottle and hand it back to him but his question almost knocked her off her feet.
“So, you’ve broken your foot before then?”
Straightening up as calmly as she could, bottle in one hand, she opened her mouth... then closed it. No. She'd never broken her foot. Nor anything for that matter. But Drew had felt breaks before. She'd mended them. She knew how it felt for a split second, how much the pain became like her own before it vanished. How were you supposed to tell somebody that? It was unnatural. "Before I came to the island... I was studying medicine. I'd know if it broke" she lied. All an awful lie.
"You've given so much, I can't possibly..." Drew felt flustered at the offer. Water and half-price ice cream? He was being too kind. It was something she wasn't used to. Of course, the people here were very kind but she didn't give them a chance. She frowned, looking at the cart before a rare event happened; she actually glanced into his eyes for a few seconds. "only if you get yourself some too. I'll pay. W-working outside all day... You have to keep hydrated. I...I'll take mint chocolate chip, please." Drew didn't think they had banana gelato. That was something for restaurants. She bit her lip again, unsure if he'd take her up on her offer. He had been nice to her. It was only natural she return the favour. [atrb=border,0,true][atrb=cellspacing,0,true][atrb=valign,top] | [atrb=valign,top] ◄ | Orville didn’t really believe that running over someone’s foot was ok but he had apologized hadn’t he? He supposed it was ok if she decided it was. The blonde made no attempt to take back the bottle and instead quirked a smile as he responded, “No way. I can’t sell foot water. I’d get fired. It’s alright, keep it.” He waved her off before noting that she had tensed up a little before replying. “Medicine is pretty cool. I could never do it before of how messy the job can be.” Orville added with a shrug. He was too much of a neurotic clean freak to even think about being a doctor. All the bodily fluids that the human body secreted? Yeah, he didn’t even want to know about that. Besides he would rather follow his composing career and if all else failed he could always attend law school like his mother. He could intern or something, or write jingles. Though he was curious about the woman. She sounded like she had given up on medicine or something.
In the end, it wasn’t really his business was it? He was just the guy that had run over one of his customer’s feet with an ice cream cart. He tried not to turn away from the librarian. After all he’d already said she could have it, he couldn’t just take it back. He’d already made a decision and he would stick with it. He’d dealt with these types of people before anyway. He’d just sorta give her the ice cream and then leave. The temp paused realizing he had managed to earn Drew’s full attention. He imagined that might have been difficult for her and couldn’t help but smile, pleased with himself. His customer service skills were great, as expected. “Sure, I could go for something sweet right about now.” Orville said, assuring her that he would eat something. If only to make her accept the ice cream without any more complaints.
Orville picked up a waffle cone before beginning to scoop out a nicely sized ball of mint chocolate chip. “Would you like sprinkles on that?” he asked handing over the treat before grabbing a second scoop of mint chocolate chip for his own cone. He wasn’t up for more chocolate after the fudgesicle form earlier. He lightly dumped some sprinkles onto his ice cream before licking some of it up. “That’ll be five dollars by the way.” The boy added taking a small bite out of his ice cream. He’d never actually had anything but triple chocolate or vanilla but mint chocolate chip was pretty decent. It was more refreshing if anything but he supposed he should have expected that from the mint. The worked glanced back at Drew before asking, “So are you vacationing or do you live in Sepalum?” Orville had only recently arrived to live with his aunt and help her out on her new farm. He’d spent all his free time working or, well, working. The blonde hadn’t actually had a conversation with anyone that wasn’t a customer.
ooc: hope you like it. sorry it took so long ;u;
