It's not like the peninsula was very dangerous, but she didn't like to be out so late. It was dark and she wasn't quite sure where she was...all she could tell was that she was somewhere in the residential district. There were houses everywhere and she couldn't tell if she was on Orchid Street or Daisy Avenue, or somewhere inbetween. It was too dark to read the street signs, even, and they themselves were pretty worn down.
Sighing a bit nervously, she kept walking. She was going to get in to big trouble if she didn't get home soon, as she hadn't notified her parents of her staying at a friends house. Unfortunately her friends were all busy tonight, otherwise that was where she'd be right now, not wandering the streets looking around cluelessly. If only she'd spent more time getting to know this part of town, maybe she wouldn't be lost right now...
But...it was a little exciting. Maybe she could think of it as an adventure! The crime rate was basically zero, anyways...the people on the peninsula seemed to be a chipper group. It was nothing like the big city, or so she'd heard from watching news reports and listening to people talk and the like. Iphi knew she was relatively safe, so she started to walk with a bit more confidence, looking around curiously at her surroundings.
This all changed, though, when she saw a dark figure approaching her. Oh, no...the crime rate was basically zero, that didn't mean it never happened! Oh, this was going to be the night where she died, wasn't it? The dark figure kept getting closer and she started to get more and more afraid, ducking next to a bush in someone's yard as she waited, hoping the person would keep walking and leave her alone.
(i'm assuming u'll realize the figure is asher lol) |

He wasn't terribly fond of being out late at night. Of course, it wasn't as though he had reason to worry in Primula. Crime rate was practically nonexistent - although there were some petty thieves and delinquents, but what town didn't have that? - and generally speaking, the streets were safe at night. But he didn't like leaving Michelle at home so late at night with some stranger to babysit her. It made him uncomfortable. But his job was his job. Simple as that, he supposed. And his job required him to patrol the streets at like a few times at night before he was allowed to go home.
He sighed, adjusting his jacket slightly as he continued to head down the streets of the residential district. His last stop for the night. If he was lucky, it would go without so much as a hitch and he could just return home as immediately as possible. That would have been terribly pleasant, wouldn't it? Earlier than usual too. Even better.
But it never seemed like he got his way in times like this, he thought. He caught sight of a shady figure moving about in the dim light. Was it one of those delinquents? Tch, he thought he had told them to stay home when it was dark like this. They were generally pretty behaved, he thought. ... again, generally being an umbrella term here. Sometimes they could be a persistent little bunch of teenagers. Milder now at least with the leader of the entire group gone. He sighed, taking out his flashlight and seeking out any signs of them. Egging some house probably. What else would they do that required the cover of night anyways?
Asher headed in the figure's direction, careful to make sure that he didn't run into anything or anyone too dangerous. You never knew, he noted. Some psychopath could have very well been hiding there as a cover. He heard the rustle of a bush, the officer moving quickly to check what it was. Only to find that it was some strange girl that felt the desire to hide in foliage. Ah, and he thought the people in the city were eccentric. He breathed a sigh of relief, putting away his flashlight and offering his hand to the girl to try and help her out. What was she even doing out here at night anyways? "It's dangerous to be outside at night, moron." He said bluntly, disinterest showing on his face.
"If I was an escaped convict, they'd have to identify you by your dental records." Disturbing as that thought was, it was the only way he knew how to communicate the situation to the girl. She was young, so he supposed it could be forgiven. But she seemed definitely old enough to know better than to be wandering outside at night. Alone, especially. It wasn't safe no matter where it was that they happened to be. But he supposed that she probably didn't want to hear it. And he didn't really want to tell her what she already knew either. "... are y' gonna get up or are you gonna hide out in that bush a little longer?"

Iphi's heart was pounding so hard she was sure that the person, whoever they were, would be able to hear it and locate her. But soon she saw a light and it moved, nearly blinding her as it passed over where she was hiding.
Thoroughly confused she just stayed still until the figure was standing over her, and only then did she realize it was a police officer...and that she didn't have to worry. Exhaling a long breath that she wasn't aware she was holding, her eyes fluttered shut in relief. Just a police officer, not someone who wanted to hurt her. She didn't even hear his words until he asked her if she was going to just sit there in the bush.
"O-oh, um, no," she stammered, still a bit shaken from her fear but took his his extended hand anyway, standing up and dusting the dirt off of her. "Sorry, I...I thought you were a criminal or something." Her voice was quiet but she felt the need to explain why she was in the bush. It's not like she liked hiding in people's foliage for fun or anything. "Thank you," she added, though she wasn't sure what she was thanking him for. For being there? For helping her up? For not being a murderer? One of those, or something.
"I was just...taking a walk," she said, trying to explain her reason for being out so late now. "I didn't want to go home but now I guess I'll have to..." |

Man, teenagers were weird. He didn't like the idea of having them out at this hour of the night. Especially because it could get dangerous every now and then. Yeah, there were very few crimes that occurred in the town. And yeah, it was a small enough town where everyone would be able to see you. But sometimes, he worried some wild animal might end up wandering into the town from the forest. And especially if it was dark too, he thought. Maybe it wasn't really that big of a deal, but it didn't stop him from worrying regardless. Besides that, he just didn't think it was right to leave young women unattended like this.
Dangerous or not, he just didn't feel like it was proper. Or right for that matter. Asher helped pull her to her feet before dropping his arms back to his sides, side stepping to make room for the girl to head out onto the worn path. "A criminal?" Well, there was a first. He snorted, shoving his hands into the pocket of his hoodie. He supposed he could understand that. He wasn't exactly dressed professionally but even with that said, he didn't think he gave that vibe. But hey. What the hell ever, right? "Yeah, I guess I can see how you'd think that. Ain't here t' hurt 'cha though, so don't worry your pretty lil' head about it."
She seemed like a nice enough girl if not a little strange. Never met her before though, he thought. Or maybe he had and he just wasn't paying attention? Ah, this small town life was making him lazy. Nothing ever happened so he ended up doing nothing but sleeping in his office all day. Not eating or moving. Just sleeping. But he supposed it was a good thing. He needed that energy to keep up with Michelle, otherwise that girl would just run him right into the ground. No doubt about it.
He sighed at her next words, the man shifting his weight back and forth between his feet before he finally stopped. "... mm. When did I ever say you had to go home?" A soft chuckle escaped his lips, the officer turning away from her to head down on the path through the residential district. "You can keep goin' on your walk. I ain't gonna stop you but y' should stick close t' me in case something happens." Asher crossed his arms behind his head, sighing as he looked up at the inky black sky. Dotted with stars all across its great expanse. A night walk wasn't half bad of an idea. Maybe he should have tried doing them more often than he did. He usually was dead asleep with Michi by now so maybe that was why.
He turned then to face her, deciding it was a good enough distance between the two for her to decide if she wanted to continue or if she simply wanted to go home now or not. He supposed he would have been worried if he was her. But Asher had always been a bit more cautious than he needed to be. He just wished he had been when he was a teenager. Ah, if only if only. "That alright with y'? Or do y' want me t' take y' home?"

[atrb=valign,top][atrb=border,0,true][atrb=cellspacing,0,true][atrb=cellpadding,0,true][atrb=style,width:50px; border-right: 25px solid #FC0007;] | [atrb=style, background:#fafafa; width: 300px; padding: 20px;] She looked at him curiously. She didn't have to go home...? Iphigenia was sure he would send her straight back to her parents since it was after curfew and all, but then again, this police officer was wearing a hooded sweatshirt. He seemed...casual almost. The girl wasn't sure if that was a relief or just made her a bit more afraid.
"Okay, well...thanks for not getting me in trouble," she mumbled, looking down with a bit of a jolt, her bouncy, thick pigtails bouncing. "I don't think my parents would be happy if I got escorted home by a police officer." Actually, she knew they wouldn't. That would be a few weeks of being grounded and that wouldn't be fun at all...that meant no staying out late or even being on the peninsula unless she had to work.
So she walked along with the strange policeman for a while, glancing up at him every so often. Why was he out so late in such casual clothes? Her mind began to work, gears turning as she thought. It was always interesting to meet new people because she knew that everyone had their own equally interesting life that they were living...and finding out bits and pieces of those stories intrigued her. Maybe he had a family or maybe he lived alone with a dog. Maybe his house was in the ranching district and he had a long walk home, or maybe his place was just down the road above one of the shops.
When he spoke again, she almost didn't hear him due to her daydreaming...or, whatever the equivalent was for the time of day she was currently experiencing. "Oh, no, um...I can get myself home, I suppose. I was trying to find somewhere to stay but I'll have to go back to the island," she sighed, obviously disheartened by this. Back to the humid island where her hair was always poofy and skin always damp from the dewy air.
Still, she would milk this walk for all it was worth. At least she wasn't alone, like he had mentioned. "So what's your name?" she asked curiously, looking up at him. Normally police officers wore a little badge with their last name on it, as least, but he wasn't really dressed in the normal outfit right now, and it would've been hard to read anyways. |
