It hadn't been very busy, but it wasn't really the season for planting. That's what Mr. Narcissus said, anyway. That was probably why he had been hanging around so much and being so...well, acting like Mr. Narcissus. He wasn't the nicest guy around, but he was kind enough to have given Iphi a job so she was grateful for that. Besides, his company wasn't so bad...it was just the two of them at the shop today anyway since Iphi happened to be the only employee at the moment.
It was a bit stressful, since she had to work every day (though she was allowed a few days off every once and a while) but it wasn't like she had school to worry about as it was summer. Besides, it was just more money for her, right? She'd be done with school soon enough and then she'd be able to move out on her own and get off of the island. While most people on the peninsula saw it as a tropical getaway, she saw it as a ball and chain. She desired a life away from the heat and palm trees.
But days like this...they weren't stressful at all. She wasn't even doing anything at the moment, just sitting behind the register and doodling on a spare piece of receipt paper that had been in the trash bin. Sometimes she'd sneak out and pet the animals but Mr. Narcissus didn't like that much, since she had to stay up front to greet any customers (and keep an eye on them if they needed assistance). So, she waited. And waited. And waited...and hoped someone would stop by for something, even if it was just to ask a question. |

[atrb=cellSpacing,0,true][atrb=cellPadding,0,true][atrb=border,0,true][atrb=valign,top,true] leon madsen "So troublesome," he muttered, looking down on the withered plants below him. A part of him wanted to kick and stomp, to ruin what he had been trying to grow as they hadn't, but he kept himself from it. No, he had to start over. These plants were dead, even though they had only been planted recently. It was weird, because they were summer seeds. Then again, he really didn't know a whole lot about crop farming. He lived pretty much solely on his ducks. Leon sighed, reached for the nearby spade that he had gotten out of his tool shed, and started digging up the roots and throwing them into a basket. After the soil had been readied, he went to the tool shed again - which was also where he kept everything from farming tools to garden furniture - and looked for more packets of summer seeds. He rummaged through the entire place, but found nothing. He sighed again, realising that he had used everything he had on the few crops that had died. But he was in need of more. The purplette sat down on the wooden surface of the backyard patio - his house looked like an old, run down japanese house - with his wallet. He counted through the little coin he had, but figured he had enough for a couple of new packets of summer seeds. Watermelon was what he really wanted, though he knew they took a little longer than others. He also wanted cucumber and tomato, but that was just the amount of what he thought he would afford right now. There was a bicycle in his tool shed, but he rarely used that -- he was lazy. Instead he just made sure the ducks were fed, and then he left the comfortable area of his farm. Narcissus Ranch was the only place he was aware of that sold seeds. It was a much bigger ranch than his own, and much more professional, he knew. It was a little intimidating, as he wasn't there very often. He wasn't even sure if he should knock on the door, but he figured that since it was a store, that probably wasn't what people usually did. He didn't call out hello as he opened the door. He just scanned the room first for a few moments, and then when he had taken it all in - probably making the only other person in there wonder what he was up to - he looked to the girl on the other side of the counter. "I'd like some watermelon seeds," he said with a straight face. "And cucumber and tomato." It was in a bit of a monotone voice, but that was what Leon did. He didn't have any other voice, unless he was sleepy and had just woken up. tagged: iphigeniaa ♦ notes: i gave you like nothing, i'm sorry /sob made by habbue |

A tall man walked in but she couldn't really see much of him, and he was shrouded in mystery. She peered at him for a moment, trying to discern features ore anything...all she could see was that his hair was purple. But she supposed that staring at him wasn't going to make her look less creepy than she probably already did, so she turned her attention down to some papers on the counter.
Soon, though, she heard footsteps grow closer. Glancing up she squeaked a bit, as the man was standing right in front of her counter, and he...he...he was gorgeous! Trying not to stammer too much, Iphi concentrated as he spoke. He was looking for seeds! Even better, she was actually able to do something instead of sit behind that silly counter!
"O-oh of course, sir! I can help you right away," she said, sliding off of the wooden stool she sat on and walked from around the counter, leading him to a shelf where there were some seed packets organized by type and season. Moving to the fruits and vegetables section, she pointed out the watermelons, tomatoes and cucumbers.
With a bit of a smile on her lips she looked back up at him, his cool demeanor giving her chills. "Here you go! Th-there are a few varieties so you can pick out what you like best, and then bring them to me at the counter! I'll check you out — uh, like ring up your stuff, and you can pay and...yeah!" she stuttered, quickly turning to go back to her previous spot. |

[atrb=cellSpacing,0,true][atrb=cellPadding,0,true][atrb=border,0,true][atrb=valign,top,true] leon madsen Despite his obvious stoic demeanour, the girl - who he figured to be the store's clerk on duty - took her job seriously. Almost immediately after he had told her what he wanted, she jumped off of her seat and guided him to where the correct type of seeds he was looking for. She seemed thorough, which he liked, so he smiled down at her. It probably looked rather awkwardly done, because of the height difference. He was so tall and she was so -- tiny. What was she, a student? He squinted down at the adolescent, remarking the soft skin and dark brown hair. She was cute, for a student. If she was a student, anyway. He could never really tell the age of someone, unless they flat out told him. "Thank you," he told her forthrightly, after she had pointed out the seeds he sought. He scanned the shelves for a bit, wondering if he should buy anything else while he was at it. The prices were a little lower than he had anticepated, so he could afford another packlette of seeds, if he so wanted. Buying another pack would mean more work, however, and he didn't want that. Not that he was lazy, because he was actually pretty hardworking - you probably couldn't tell from the look of him - he just didn't like overexerting. Leon noticed the faint stutter in the little girl's speech, but simply looked down at her again, his eyes showing no other emotion but relaxation. There was a little bit of patience in there, or he would've already been out the door, but not a whole lot. He grabbed the packlettes he had set his eyes on and followed closely behind the girl as she returned to her seat. "Slow day?" he asked, purely out of social courtesy. If it wasn't for the fact that she looked rather bored from sitting behind that counter of hers - it didn't seem like there had been a lot of customers today, so he thought he'd at least strike up a small conversation before he left. tagged: iphigeniaa ♦ notes: again, wow, i'm sorry. he's just .. strange made by habbue |

Oh, no, he was following so close...Iphi prayed to the goddess that she wouldn't trip, please do NOT trip...
Of course, since she didn't want to, she did. Her foot caught over a curled-up corner of one of the old floorboards and she sailed forward, hands and pigtails flailing as she tried to grab hold of something to keep herself from crashing to the ground, but to no avail. Her fingers were only inches from the counter and she her nails scrabbled against the surface for a grip but she fell anyways, nearly faceplanting the wooden floor.
"O-ow," she squeaked, pulling herself up from the floor weakly, a defeated girl. Of course she had to trip and fall and her skirt probably flipped up, giving him a whole show of...well, everything that was under there. Her face turned bright red as she straightened her clothing before looking down at her now-skinned up knees. A bit of a sigh escaped her as she brushed the dirt and grass that had been on the floor off of the sensitive, stinging wounds before retreating to her stool behind the counter.
Turning around to face him, she tried to play it out like nothing happened. Sitting down she cleared her throat, organizing some papers sitting on the counter — a flyer for some farmer's market happening in the plaza — and waited for him to set his seed packets on the counter.
"Oh, um, yes, it's been slow," she replied. "You're the first customer all day...did you need help finding anything else?" she added, sincerely hoping that he wouldn't bring up her unfortunate fall, wondering why she was kidding herself that he wouldn't. |

[atrb=cellSpacing,0,true][atrb=cellPadding,0,true][atrb=border,0,true][atrb=valign,top,true] leon madsen It didn't even occur to the twenty-seven year old that he was probably walking a little too close behind her, so when she all of a sudden took a tumble forward, Leon was too stumped to even take action or prevent any nasty falls. He heard a thump, and a yelp from the girl, before he looked down to see her butt up in the air, showing off a pair of yellow panties with pink bunnies smiling up at him. "Are you alright?" he asked nonchalantly. Feeling sorry for the poor girl, the view of a little girl's underwear hardly got him excited, so he just extended his left arm in case she wanted some help getting up. It seemed like she had everything in control, however, and so he retrieved it and watched as the girl straightened herself, brushing whatever was on the floor off of her. As she retraced her steps to the back of the counter, Leon followed her to the front, and placed the packets he had been carrying in his right hand on the top surface. "You scraped your knees," he said, ignoring the question about needing help to find other items. "Here," his hand went to button up his left chest pocket, fetching a few band aids from it, then handing them over to her. "These might come in handy, if you plan on not watching your step in the future." tagged: iphigeniaa ♦ notes: he has a slight case of alexithymia. and sorry for the shortness of this post ugh made by habbue |

The man seemed like he was, anyway. She made her way back to the stool and sat down, watching as he simply set the seed packets down and went for his shirt pocket.
As she typed the prices of the packets into the cash register, a bit absorbed in the work, she came back to focus and looked at the hand that was outstretched towards her, holding a few bandages out. Glancing up at him with her brown eyes, she awkwardly accepted the offering, taking the little bandages wrapped in a protective paper shell and set them down on the counter as she finished totaling his items.
"Um, it will be 4.86," she said quietly, glancing down at the bandages again. It really was a nice gesture, even if she wasn't sure how to reply to his last statement, or if she even should. It sounded a bit harsh, but...did he mean it that way? Or was he just a bit awkward with conversation, just like she was right now?
She took the bandages in her hand again and clutched them a bit before putting them in her pocket. She'd go put them on and clean the cuts up once he had left. "Thank you, for the bandaids," she said quietly, the blush blooming on her cheeks darker. It was a bit embarrassing, but she was thankful. And it would be rude to just take them without saying a thing. |

[atrb=cellSpacing,0,true][atrb=cellPadding,0,true][atrb=border,0,true][atrb=valign,top,true] leon madsen She accepted the band aids. That was good. He wouldn't like it if she went around all day with scraped up knees like that. However, she seemed to care more about checking his items out than tending to her wounds. He looked down at the packettes on the counter, then up at the girl. Money. She wanted money. With a little hesitation - more so because he failed to recognize the next step in this kind of situation, as he rarely went to shop - he pulled up his wallet and counted the money inside, before giving the right amount to her. "Here."There was still some money left, however. Oddly enough. Was he that terrible at mathematics? He had never attended school, only learned what his parents had taught him when he was a child. But he supposed the prices could've been changed as well. It had been a while since the last time he was in here. Then he watched the girl put the band aids in her pocket. He nodded at the thank you he received, not knowing what else to do when people thanked him, then waited for a few seconds. "Aren't you going to apply them?" His expression would never have given him away. Even if he was questioned by the mafia, Leon was completely dead in the eyes. However, he wondered why she didn't put the bandages on right away. Wasn't sooner rather than later better? tagged: iphigeniaa ♦ notes: lol idk man he has a heart made by habbue |

[atrb=valign,top][atrb=border,0,true][atrb=cellspacing,0,true][atrb=cellpadding,0,true][atrb=style,width:50px; border-right: 25px solid #FC0007;] | [atrb=style, background:#fafafa; width: 300px; padding: 20px;] Taking the money, she put it into the cash register and gave him a little receipt that printed from an old machine. It wasn't the most top of the line but it still worked, and Mr. Narcissus didn't want to pay for an expensive machine as well as expensive shipping to get it out to the peninsula if the one they had already worked. The ink was a bit faded, but it was still mostly legible. She handed him the slip as well as the seed packets, a little smile gracing her lips.
But he spoke again before leaving, and she was confused. Apply them, right here? She was going to do it a bit later when she could properly wash the scrape, plus the fact that it was a little...strange to do it in public in front of the customer. It wasn't like it was a private matter but it wasn't necessarily something she'd want to do in front of someone else, especially a person she had just met.
She didn't want to disappoint him, however, so she awkwardly pulled them out of her pocket. "Oh, right, um...sorry," she said with a bit of a blush, her cheeks turning more red. Digging under the counter she found some hand wipes that they kept to easily clean off any dirt from a surface or hands without having to go to the bathroom or get a soapy rag.
Pulling her knee up so her foot was planted on the seat along with her behind, she pulled a wipe out of the container and gently started to use it on her scrape, cleaning the dirt off of it as well as disinfecting it. The slight sting from the alcohol in the wipe's fluid made her grit her teeth a little, but it wasn't bad. Once she finished cleaning it, the wipe was deposited into a small trash can and she reached out, grabbing the bandages that were on the counter.
One by one she peeled them open, gently pressing them over her wound and making sure they stuck securely on her unharmed skin. When she finished and her knee was covered, she let her leg fall back down to its usual position and she remained seated on the stool, smiling. "There we go! Good as new. Thank you again, that was very generous of you..." |

[atrb=cellSpacing,0,true][atrb=cellPadding,0,true][atrb=border,0,true][atrb=valign,top,true] leon madsen He stood there watching her, wondering why she hadn't just put the band aids on right away, rather than waiting. Though some did say wounds healed better when they weren't bandaged up. Leon didn't believe it, however. He knew from back when he used to live in the woods that whenever he didn't dress a wound it just got infected and then a trip to the hospital always ensued. She seemed to take the hint, though. Well, "hint"; he did outright ask her to put the bandages on. He didn't even realise that she probably felt awkward doing so in front of him, purely because he didn't know that feeling. Leon watched as the poor girl washed her knee with whatever it was she had underneath the counter, then noticing a slight wince as she wiped straight across the wound. Did it hurt? The purplette tilted his head a little, continuing to watch, while he put his hand into one of his many pockets to try to find something. After the brunette had applied all of the band aids to her knee, Leon nodded at the thank you he got, and then retrieved his hand from his pocket. He stretched out his arm towards the girl, revealing a piece of hard candy in his palm. "For you," he said, gesturing for her to take the candy. Leon always carried various sortments of candy on his person, and the girl seemed to look in pain for a little while just moments ago, so he though he should give one to her. The dentists did that after their patients had been good, and the girl had been good, so why not? "Bye." He was done now, she had applied the bandages, so no need to linger. "Be more careful." There was a hint of a smile as he nodded a final time and then turned to leave. Most would consider Leon creepy like that, but it was just his way of being nice. tagged: iphigeniaa ♦ notes: lol idk man he has a heart made by habbue |
