Sighing tiredly, Adina untied her apron and hung it on the wall by her register. It had been a long day, but her shift was finally over and luckily enough it hadn't been all that busy. However, she still felt like she hadn't slept a wink in weeks. She had been taking extra shifts, even doing the other jobs such as clerk work or flower arranging just to earn a little bit of extra cash to pay her monthly mortgage.
It's only been 3 months since she moved, and already she was short on money. It was to be expected though, with the amount of repair work she had to do to keep the house standing. It already looked like all the other houses on the block, and the front lawn was beautifully cut, with lovely flowers surrounding the house. Shame she couldn't say the same for her backyard, and the inside of the house still needed a few more repairs but at the very least her kitchen and bathroom were all renovated and fully functioning.
She was making good progress, unfortunately it was at the expense of her own health. She already had to visit the doctor twice this month for exhaustion. 'If my boss forces me to take time off, I'll never be able to pay this month's bills.' With that thought in mind, it only served to fortify her earlier decision months ago. She needed to rent out the extra room in her house.
Her initial search had been...fruitless, seeing as that everyone had their own home, and most preferred to stay at the inn. She couldn't blame them, after all who would want to live in a house that looked like it would fall apart?
"Miss Adina!" Startled from her thoughts she looked up at one of the temporary workers who manned the flower stall.
"Y-Yes?" She called, walking over to the temp.
"Sorry to disturb you, but could you help me with arranging some bouquets for tomorrow before you leave? Seems there's been an increase in demand and there's simply too many for me to do by myself. Please~" The temp put their hands together in a begging gesture, with a pleading look on their face, that Adina simply could not say no to.
"A-alright." Adina replied hesitantly, she really was tired, but she couldn't refuse helping someone.
"Thanks. Oh hey, let's ask the new guy if he wants to help too, it's almost closing time anyways, so there aren't anymore customers. HEEEY! NEW GUY!" The temp called over to the blonde man by the register(s), and waving their arm in the air to get his attention. "Hey! If you're not doing anything, come help us make some bouquets for tomorrow!"
Adina looked over at the person the temp called. Well, he was definitely new, at least to them anyways. She hadn't seen him before, and the temp usually worked on the same days as her. Adina wondered why the boss hadn't notified them about hiring someone new. the evening was upon them, the day was winding down. the stragglers had already made their way to the registers and paid their way through the exit doors. co-workers were starting to gather their things and prepare to leave, there was just a few more minutes to be spent in the store before everyone made their way home for the night. Save for the few who had reasons to stay later. Miles was not one of them. he stood behind his register and poked at a couple of its buttons, confirming where each one was located in the hopes he'd have an easier time finding them tomorrow. as the new guy who had never had this kind of job before he seemed to be doing well enough. "HEEEY! NEW GUY!" miles was pretty sure he was the only new guy at the moment and turned to the source of the voice with a grin plastered on his face. habit, family and former career having taught him to always greet people with a smile no matter what. and besides, a smile was almost always good for brightening someone's day. "I'd love to!"With a bit of bounce in his swift steps Miles made his way over towards the flowers, looking the pair that were already present over. He was working on learning his co-workers still, names and personalities and what have you. He barely knew anyone at this point though as he was focusing more on getting the job right first, best not to get fired. "Who might you ladies be?" a charming grin, as always. he turned to the flowers, though he looked the two over again out of the corner of his eye. picking up a flower he turned back to introduce himself. "The name's Miles. Pleasure to meet you." He shot a grin at the orange haired one, a cutie for certain, before picking up more of the flowers for the buoquets, he looked them over and contemplated how exactly to arrange them, and if he could get his hands on any seeds for his own flowers any time soon. Adina merely greeted the boy with a nod, and turned to the flowers before her to get started on her work. She was simply too tired to make an effort to be polite, and quite frankly she simply wanted to get home.
"Don't mind Miss Adina, she's just been really tired lately. Oh, her name is Adina, and I'm Fon!" The temp introduced herself, but Adina looked back up and pouted.
"Fiona." She stated looking to the younger woman with a look that was common on any mother that was reprimanding their child.
"Ugh, Miss Adina, don't call me that name!" Fon returned the pout, and for a few moments they had a stare off, but Adi looked away and simply sighed as she returned to arranging the flowers. "Oh hey, now that I think of it...you're pretty new to town altogether right Miles? I've heard the gossip."
"Y-you're new here?" Adina stopped from cutting carnation stems as she looked at the blonde man. She was pretyt much a gossiper herself, but if this man was new in town, then perhaps she could try to rent out her extra room to him. But there was the very real chance that he already probably found a place to stay, that or he preferred the inn like everyone else. "D-do you have a place to stay?"
"Ohhh~ Miss Adina, inviting him to your house already? So bold~" Fon teased, and smiled wickedly as she saw the red creep into the older woman's cheeks, and her expression turned indignant.
"W-Wha! I didn't mean it like that!" Adina denied, but her younger co-worker was already chuckling at her expense. With a huff she simply returned to her work. "Nevermind, forget I asked."

while a little disapointed to be met with only a nod of the head by one of the ladies miles wasn't about to let it knock him down. just as he was about to tell the more chatty of the two that it was perfectly alright he found himself laughing instead at the scene that proceeded to unfold in front of him, a soft chuckle that lasted all the way until the end. he coudn't help the smile on his face as he side stepped a little closer to adina. "well i wouldn't have minded even if you did mean it that way." he joked even if the comment was true, the lady was quite attractive and he'd have had no qualms about giving her a little company for the night. miles fiddled with a few of the flowers, placing them together with a soft and dramatic sounding sigh. "I do have a place, at the inn. Don't intend to stay there perminently however. not my style." it was mostly the number of people, crowds just didn't do it for miles anymore. "Haven't got the means to go elsewhere at the moment though.""why do you ask?" he looked sideways at her as he finished up a bouquet, curious as to what reason she'd ahave to ask him such a question right off the bat. Adina simply continued to pout and grumble under her breath about unruly teenagers, but stopped as she heard the man, Miles, speak of his living conditions. She couldn't fathom why he wouldn't like the inn, their service was usually phenomenal, but then again when she thought about it, living in close quarters with more than one person at the time could be tiring, not to mention noisy.
"Oh, well..." Adi hesitated for a moment, unsure if this really what she wanted. However, when thinking of how she could lose the house she'd worked so hard on if she couldn't pay, her resolve was was set in stone. "Well, you see I have this house. It's small and it's kind of old, it needs a lot of repairs, but it does it's purpose. And...well..."
Unable to control herself, her cheeks reddened at her next words. "I-I have an extra bedroom I'm not using...and I was thinking of renting it out. I just thought...perhaps...if you had nowhere else to go..." she struggled with her words and fiddled with the carnation she was still holding. "...and if you'd be willing to pay the rent...maybe...you could...s-stay with-- er, I mean...you could...um...live there."

"Really? You'd offer it to me?" Miles questioned with a bit of genuine surprise, and chuckled at her red cheeks. While people seemed to be pretty friendly and well mannered on the peninsula he hadn't expected such a offering really, and without even getting ot know him firsttoo. or maybe she just was in dire need enough to not reallly care who she wound up with in her house. either way it seemed like it was too good ot pass up, much better than the hotel. "Can't see why anyone would knock living with to a pretty lady like yourself."Reaching over to grab the carnation she had been fiddling with Miles slipped it into his next bunching of flowers. Still smiling like the over joyous fool he thought for a moment before continueing. "Can't imagine rent would be too bad... but i'm guessing there's a catch in here somewhere isn't there? There's always a catch and I don't know if I can handle too many of those." his tone was playful and fun, he was messing with her of course. Seriously considering taking her up on her offer at least for the time being. "Though i suppose i might not have much choice, it's not like i have anywhere else to go really." he brought a tulip up to his lips and kissed a petal, a little bit of good luck to whomever happened to pick that particular one before slipping it into a buoquet. "I-If I was being honest, I'm still not sure if it's what I want to do..." She pouted, but all negative thoughts that she'd been about to think of herself when the man complimented her. "Er...um..." Her blush grew redder and her fiddling with the carnation intensified. She never really did take compliments well unless they came from one of the rich folk, at least then she could tell that they were simply saying it out of courtesy, but she couldn't really tell this man's intentions. "I don't really think people thought of me as such." She mumbled to herself, she would admit that she looked presentable, half the time, but she would never consider herself as 'pretty' or 'beautiful'. At one point her servants and Mira had told her the same thing, but her parents always simply answered with 'as long as you are presentable', and oddly enough, that was enough for her.
She was brought from her thoughts when the flower she'd been bruising was taken from her. A little confused at what happened, he looked up to see Miles put the flower into a bouquet. Snapping from her little trance she began to work on her own bouquet of lillies. "A catch...um..." Adina stopped what she was doing for a moment just to think if there were any catches she should inform this man about. "I already said the house was old, and needed a lot of repairs...for now only the kitchen and bathroom are in perfect condition..." As she spoke she continued to arrange the flowers, and once she finished one she started on another. "What else...The front yard looks okay, but the backyard needs a little work. I'd been planning to grow a vegetable and flower garden, but I haven't had the time to start..."
She pouted at the thought of her backyard, it had been her first goal, but other things took priority, and if she was being honest with herself she had bought the house simply for the backyard. It was expansive, and just beyond the rotten, old wooden fencing of the house, which she planned to extend or remove, was a field of tall grass that eventually led to a cliff that over looked the ocean. The view alone had sold her, and having a big backyard was a nice bonus.
"Um...I think that's it. Oh! I haven't gotten around to fixing the air conditioner and the heater, but oddly enough we still get hot water." Her expression turned thoughtful as she tried to think of more things that could be deemed important enough to know. Normally, the people simply asked her what they wanted to know, though she supposed she should actually start recording what they asked. "And um...the neighbors aren't too bad, they're all nice. The houses are apart far enough so noise isn't too much of a problem, nor privacy for that matter. I guess that's most of it... did you want to know anything else?"
Adina pouted at this next words. "Well, I'm sure that's not true. There are others who are offering rooms for rent, they probably even have better housing. You don't have to settle with me, I merely offered since staying at the inn seemed so...te...di..ous..." Her words abruptly ended as she watched the man pull a yellow tulip from it's place with the others and gave it a kiss.
She smiled in amusement and couldn't help to say, "That flower suits you. Yellow tulips mean 'there's sunshine in your smile' or was it ' your smile brings sunshine'? Hmmn, I'll have to brush up on my flower meanings." Miles gave a sigh, a little over dramaticly. "Ah I suppose if it's not what you wnat to do I can suffice with the inn awhile longer. It's too bad though..." He looked over at her and cocked his head to the side as she mumbled something, partially audable but mostly not. "you should speak up, pleasant sounding voices are much better when they're not muddled by mumbling." with a shake of his head miles attended the flowers he had in his hands. "Old and in need of repair gives a little character. Shows a little story." it may have been a bit whimsical of him to think in such a manner but he was a former performer after all, and one could not truly tell a story without a little whimsy in them. In need of repair, it sounded like the place must have had a bit of a story behind it. He listened ot her explain her living situation, and the offered one if she chose to accept him and he her offer. he tried to invision the place, a little broke down, a little over grown and green. Maybe it had some ivy running around its walls, now that owuld have been a wonderful site. An older house it sounded like, something with the vibe of history too it, he wondered what store such a poor broken down place might offer him if he could step foot in it. the more she talked of its flaws the more she sold him on the idea of the place. "It doesn't sound half bad to me." Miles grinned at the thought, the broken air conditioner and heater going right past him. that was what blankets, ice subes and cold showers were for anyway. Though he spoke quietyly, more to himself as he listened ot her than to anyone else. "Sounds rather quiet, and private. That would be very nice." Miles nodded along to her words more quiet musings of his own, that was perfect. He could handle people to an extent, after all he wouldn't have bothered trying for a job as a store clerk if her couldn't. As long as people stayed spread out it wouldn't get to him, only bunchings of people all standing together really made him nervous. Being spread out made it easier to ignore their numbers, and easier to cope with the overwhelming unease crowds brought to his gut. he was brought out of his quiet mutterings and thoughts when her words seemed to slow and catch on her tongue. Looking to her to see what was the matter he half expected to find her in a staring match with a spider that had dropped from the ceiling. Instead he found her smiling, which in turn made him smile. Smiles and laughter, there was little that was more contagious to the man. "Why thank you, I could say the same of you. You should smile more." he held a grin for her, for a moment. "As for this housing thing though," miles looked back to the flowers again, though he chose to dawdle where he could, take his time. now he wished to make this conversation with this Adina linger if her could. "I'm sure there are better housing opportunities out there but they're a little too pristine i think. Price?" Mailes looked upwards for a moment in thought before quickly adding. "And what about me? Any questions? I imagine you should probably make sure you're not about to give housing to a master thief who's planning to take what little you have to pawn on the road or something."[newclass=.backah]width: 350px; background-color: #dfe3e3; padding: 20px; font: normal 11px/13px arial; text-align: justify; color: #151515; text-transform: lowercase;[/newclass] [newclass=.capper]border-top: 1px dashed #151515; margin-top: 3px; font: normal 11px/13px arial; text-align: justify;[/newclass] [newclass=.mimi]height: 53px; padding-top: 0px; padding-bottom: 3px; padding-right: 3px; background-color: #151515; padding-left: 16px; margin-bottom: 5px;[/newclass] [newclass=.robo]height: 50px; width: 50px; border: 3px solid #dfe3e3;margin-right: 10px; float: left;[/newclass] [newclass=.robo2]opacity: 0.8; [/newclass]

She shook her head, and turned away from him to hide her face. "I don't think I can ever smile genuinely. Also, I'm sorry...here I am offering you something, and yet I can't seem to make-up my mind whether to go through with it." After finishing one small bouquet she started another, and kept her head down as she continued to speak.
"Um...anyways, I suppose the starting price would be 400$ since the room is already slightly furnished, it'll include water and laundry facilities, and I suppose I could throw food in." She cringed slightly and quickly added. "No offense, but I'm very particular about my kitchen, and so I don't really want anyone to be using it except for simple things like cereal or something." She hopped this man, Miles, didn't mind that all too much. Most of her previous options had known how to cook, and had even volunteered to cook for her, that was practically her worst nightmare realized. Adi wan't just particular about her kitchen, she was also very particular about her food.
Coming from a rich family, there was always a certain way food was served for each individual, like how her mother preferred her eggs sunny-side up, and a little over cooked, her father liked his bacon with the fat trimmed off and a little chewy instead of crunchy, and she herself always, always, always, had one waffle, one pancake, and oatmeal with bananas and lots of brown sugar for her breakfast. Only Alfred, Lulu and herself knew how exactly she liked her food, and she'd rather starve than have to eat anything anyone else made for her. It was one of the reasons she never ate at restaurants. Fast foods were alright, and shops like ice-cream and candy were always welcome, and certain baked goods were fine.
Snapping herself away from her thoughts, she only caught part of what Miles had said. "If you were a thief? Well you'd be an awful one if you told me so that you were." Adina pouted at the thought, but shrugged it off. "But then again, if you did steal anything of mine, it would simply cause me a minor inconvenience since I have nothing of great value." She actually took a moment to think of anything she owned that people would even consider stealing. "The only things you could steal, that you can even carry would be my clothes, bath products, food... all of which can be replaced easily, although I'd have to go a few days without them. Also things such as my wallet or whatever are practically empty, since I always put all my money in the bank and withdraw the exact amount I need directly from there."
"As for any further questions I have...I don't think I need to ask you if you're some kind of murderer, since if you were, I'd kill you first. Do you abuse drugs or alcohol? Also do you have any medication you take and allergies?" She didn't want to ask anything too personal, just things that were needed should situations become dire. After all this person came to sepalum for a reason, and everyone had different reasons for being here, and quite frankly she didn't want to know. Her own baggage was heavy enough as it was. Unable to hold back a bout of laughter miles had to take a few moments to calm himself, trying to focus on the flowers in his hand before replying to her. "The only way you would manage to kill me first would be if you were secretly a special ops child who'd been trained to kill since toddlerdom." likely a bit of an exageration as miles wasn't that good in a fight but he was far from a push over. he was an azarov after all and with the family trade being something as dangerous as being a bunch of whores every kid knew how to fight from the moment they were old enough to walk and start self defense classes. "I guess you have a point about the thief part, though i could also be telling you so you think i'm a horrible one and then let your guard down so me and my buddies can raid your house when no one is looking!" he was joking of course and was certain to make it apparent in his tone and the playful smile on his face. "That price sounds very reasonable and I'm sure I could manage." for a moment he reflected on the old days when that would have been an easy handout, though all his old star made fortune had been used up on medical bills. "I'm also not a very good cook so I don't typically try." his voice trailed off fas he wrapped up another bunch of flowers, he wasn't about to divulge that he actually did like to try every now and then, and likely would if he moved in with her, it was just that things had a tendency to end up on fire when he did. The idea of slow and steady when cooking never had quite clicked with him. "I do not do drugs and am not a fan of alcohol, i don't have any pressing allergies or anything worth mentioning of that sort." not entirely true and it coudl be seen on his grimace but he wasn't about to tell a near stranger about how he freaked out in crowds and could barely survive a night on his own without sleeping in a bed with someone else. that woudl certainly lose him the chance he might have had here with this chick. "Anything else we should go over hm?"[newclass=.backah]width: 350px; background-color: #dfe3e3; padding: 20px; font: normal 11px/13px arial; text-align: justify; color: #151515; text-transform: lowercase;[/newclass] [newclass=.capper]border-top: 1px dashed #151515; margin-top: 3px; font: normal 11px/13px arial; text-align: justify;[/newclass] [newclass=.mimi]height: 53px; padding-top: 0px; padding-bottom: 3px; padding-right: 3px; background-color: #151515; padding-left: 16px; margin-bottom: 5px;[/newclass] [newclass=.robo]height: 50px; width: 50px; border: 3px solid #dfe3e3;margin-right: 10px; float: left;[/newclass] [newclass=.robo2]opacity: 0.8; [/newclass]
