She thought she was staying quiet, and nobody had protested, so she quickly darted from the opening of her little habitat and hoisted herself up on the smooth rock. It wasn't as nice as the sand or anything but it was better than the sharper rocks that might cut her tail.
So she began to sing, singing a familiar song tonight. The night air was chilly, causing goosebumps to raise on her wet skin. Still, she kept on with her practice. The chills went away after a while, it was just difficult to muscle through them. The young mermaid kept her spot on the rock though and continued to sing, the soft melody cutting through the still night air, blending with the sound of the waves lapping against the shore.
She didn't expect anyone to listen to her or even be bothered by her. The blonde didn't even think she was singing that loud, but sometimes it was easy to get carried away (especially when she thought she was alone) and she didn't even notice how loud she could get when she slipped into the mindset of focusing on her singing instead of the world around her.
So here she sat, singing away as she faded into the land of melodies and harmonies and away from the world of waves, rocks and sentient beings. She was at peace...unfortunately, not everyone around her could say the same... |

He is literally, genuinely plotting someone’s murder -- not that he’ll go through with it, but it’s certainly all planned out. Hell, he’ll hire someone else to do it and (probably) won’t bat an eyelash, as long as he can sleep. It has been exactly a week, today, since the noise began, the incessant singing in the middle of the night when Caspian has already curled up in his cavern to rest. The first night hadn’t been too bothersome, as it’d been short, soft, and he’d been tired, already. The second had been slightly more aggravating, the third downright annoying, and every night afterwards has been unbearable, Caspian getting himself so worked up that he can’t sleep hours after its stopped and the sunlight is starting to warm the surface of the water. Tonight, Caspian plans to just ignore it -- or at least try to, because he doesn’t want to start a fight but he also wants some rest -- but the singing is louder than normal, the song intricately woven together with simple melodies. It might be pretty, even, if Caspian wasn’t dead-set on making it stop. Finally fed up with the noise, he swims from his quarters and surfaces, looking around for where the sound is coming from. What he sees is a beautiful young mermaid atop a rock, singing loudly to the ocean, blonde hair cascading over her shoulders and down her back, pooling on the rock beneath her. “ Hey!” He calls, swimming over to her and stopping just short of the rock she’s on. “ Could you stop? Some people are trying to sleep, here!” He says, glaring up at her. “ You're being really, really annoying!” word count: 285 tagged: galene! notes: lord have mercy |

[atrb=valign,top][atrb=border,0,true][atrb=cellspacing,0,true][atrb=cellpadding,0,true][atrb=style,width:50px; border-right: 25px solid #EF734E;] | [atrb=style, background:#fafafa; width: 300px; padding: 20px;] Thought it would've made sense that her loud singing was bound to get one someone's nerves, she hadn't been expecting it. When Caspian popped out of the water and swam to her rock, she didn't hear a thing. She was lost in the song. She did, however, hear him when he yelled — no, more like hollered — at her to stop the incessant singing.
The shock from it all caused Galene to spook, scaring her half to death as she lost her balance on the rock, slipping into the water. It wasn't too far away and it wasn't a huge deal since she was a mermaid, after all, but it was still startling and the young maid would be lying if she were to say his words didn't hurt her.
"I-I'm sorry," she said when she resurfaced, her hair weighed down again by water, blue eyes big and remorseful. Honestly Galene hadn't realized that she was being so terribly annoying...if she had known she would've just stayed in her alcove. The maid sunk down in the water, so just her eyes and top of her head were sticking out, a position she reverted to when she was shy or afraid.
The merman that had approached her seemed young, but she didn't know him. She hadn't been around the peninsula much and due to her shy and timid nature, she didn't know many people. Still, she felt terrible that she had annoyed him even though he was still a stranger to her, and hoped he would accept her apology and not yell any more. She didn't deal with yelling well, and didn't want to add to the saltiness of the ocean with her tears — which might be completely unwarranted; it's not like the merman was hurting her in any physical way or even hurting her that bad emotionally, but Galene just couldn't help it at times. |
