The sound of the countryside was a lot different from the city. Growing up where, in place of the trees surrounding her now, would be buildings upon buildings--for a time, all this became a lot to take in, but not difficult to love or get used to. It was simple. Seeds grew into crops or trees, fishing gave you fish, there was a library for books, and everyone knew each other! Which was a nice change from all the strangers in the city. No face looked familiar, but in Sepalum, it felt as though you've seen everybody at least once somewhere already--and identifying new people was fairly easy.
Sofia stood by the edge, watching the water move past, and the fish that swam with the riverflow. She had somebody to cover for her at work today and she'd just come from some time off after taking care of her dad with the flu. It seemed like a good time to break her own rules and do something different. So she was here. By the river. Watching fish before...working with more fish later on.
She crouched down to get a closer look, putting her weight in her toes as she held onto her knees.
Her gaze was intent and her mind was clear as day, but then--
"AH-CHOO!"
She sneezed, her weight sending her tumbling into the rushing river. Sofia barely managed to latch onto something's root, but the current was too strong and she was having much trouble trying to pull herself up. She figured that she might've been in quite a pickle, but had no idea what to do from here.
