carrigan was probably raised in an overcrowded apartment complex, but she doesn't really worry about it to much. by the time she was fourteen she had been used to the streets of her bustling city, and knew how to operate. by eighteen, she had her own steady bit of business - she would pilfer drugs from one source, and sell them off to another.
she hardly spent much time at home, but from what she knew of her mother drugs were truly awful things and too nasty for carrigan to mess with - she found a certain joy in being so nimble in alleyways, being able to get whatever she wanted just by sheer determination. she didn't want to muddy her natural abilities.
her ingenious plan for getting enough money to live comfortably (and then some to throw around since she didn't really care enough to move out of the slums she'd been born into) was through cassius cohen. he was interesting to bait and provoke and carrigan would just buy drugs from him, simply enough, and evade payment. then she's dole it all out for big bucks, and she never really had the inclination to do it herself - nasty stuff, remember?
after a bit of time, cassius finally confronted her on her growing debt. she did the same thing as usual, but perhaps her debt had finally tipped or she had pushed him a little too far. he erupted on her, and in a frenzied attempt at self defense, she slashed his face with a palm-sized switch blade that she'd (luckily) come across a few days earlier.
it was probably she could've paid the debt off in a few days - she had a good amount of the money, and it wouldn't take long to get more. but she felt a bit betrayed; not to mention, cassius had mob ties and they probably wouldn't let her get away with just paying the debt (though they probably didn't know about her ponzi scheme, and if they didn't - well, she would be in a lot less trouble than she thought she was in now).
her easy answer was to skip town and end up in somewhere nondescript - enter sepalum. although she does stick out like a bit of a sore thumb. and she knows cassius is coming. she might even welcome him with open arms.

"hera hecate" is meant to be absurd - it's blatantly fake, but with no hint to where it might go. it's illusions of grandeur are just enough for carrigan to smile when she offers it, like a handful of pyrite.
- carrigan has feelings. mostly for cassius. her screws are too loose to have much for anyone else, and what she feels for him is probably distorted to begin with.
