DJ grew up in a fairly normal household through the early years of his life. As he grew up he found he had little interest in mining, machinery or typical things that boys liked. Instead he enjoyed more domestic things like cooking and economics of running a home. By the time he was ten he had become somewhat skilled in the arts of keeping house and cooking, he loved taking care of people and making nice, pretty things for them. Of course he got a little teasing for it but he shrugged it off and his big sister unlike him was into manly things, especially fighting and wouldn't stand for people picking on him. Overall his early family life had its trouble but was mostly serene.
However one day when he was twelve pirates visited the coastal town where his family ran the hot spring resort. The bunch was very lively and crass but didn't seem violent and were allowed to stay at the resort. One day while bringing the pirates desert DJ somehow got mixed up in a pirate deal and ended up being abducted by the group as they set sail. Since the pirates couldn't dock at his port again and didn't have enough resources to get him a deal back home, he simply informed his parents he was okay and began working for the pirate crew, becoming an honorary crew member working in the galley. He honed his cooking skills as a cabin boy for the crew and even learned how to fish and some other basic skills to take care of himself despite his clusminess and naivete. When he was eighteen and legally able to take care of himself the pirate crew let him off in a nearby port town for him to start his own life.
He began trying to start up his own jobs but had little luck and had to move further down the coast where he would eventually find the Sepalum Peninsula. He decided to settle down here and used some leftover treasure from his pirate days to start a small budding farm and became a new rancher for the area. It took him a while to get his ranch set up but he finally had a place of his own. He now hopes to use his skills to provide food to the people of the peninsula through his farm services and hone his homemaking skills into maybe meeting someone special as well as making lots more friends along the way.
