history
Miles Wilson grew up with many different names attached to him. Sissy, scaredy cat, wimp, loser, weakling, he rarely let it show that this bothered him though. Being a people pleaser from a young enough age, the boy learned to hide behind a smile and accept the fact that what the other children were saying about him was true. Honestly, some of it was. Miles grew up the youngest child in his family and was always the victim of his older siblings pranks and jokes, but since it was his family he took it in strides. It's amazing the boy didn't grow up more dysfunctional than he did.
Miles and his family have lived on the peninsula for as long as he could remember, the family owning a small ranch. His father, Carver, and mother, Penny, were loving if not odd parents. Carver had a habit of...scaring his children. He enjoyed pretending to find monsters under their beds or shadows in the closet right before they went to sleep, he would hide behind doors and scare them when they walked into room, harmless stuff really. While Penny didn't involve herself in these pranks, she didn't do anything to stop them either. Miles' older siblings, Jackson and Esther, were fortunate enough to develop a thick skin and could both take and deal their own practical jokes on their father. When Miles came around though, the prank went a little different.
When he was about seven years old, his mother and him returned to their home one day to find it suspiciously empty. Claiming his father and siblings were probably out in the fields, Miles went up to his room with his head in the clouds like normal only to be scared by his sister hiding behind the bathroom door. Miles screamed at the top of his lungs and collapsed to his knees. Not expecting that reaction, Esther wasn't sure what to do next. She attempted to comfort her brother bit he literally just sat there like a rock. Jackson had been hiding at the top of the steps and had been waiting too long so came down to see what had happened with his brother. He too tried to get some reaction out of Miles, but he wasn't moving. After what seemed like a lifetime, the boy finally stood up, his eyes wide with fear and said nothing to his siblings as he pushed past them and ran upstairs. They tried to get him to stop, but he wasn't listening. The boy ran to his room, only to find his father standing there with a rather frightening looking mask on. Miles immediately starting crying. The family spent that night trying to console him and make him come out from his closet.
At the request of his mother, Jackson and Esther stopped attempting to scare their brother, but Carver kept at it with little jokes. Popping a balloon by his ear, popping out from behind doors, messing with the light switches, but even the tiniest prank set the boy off. He was scared of his own shadow. The family thought he would grow out it when he got older, but he just became a little better at hiding his reactions. And by little that really meant not at all. He went through school with the labels, but learned to take the ridicule with a smile and laugh because at least they weren't scaring him. He could take anything else they threw at him.
When he was twenty-one, he came home to discover his father had suffered a heart attack while out working with the animals. The family was devastated, but obviously had to figure out what they were going to do with the ranch. Penny only knew how to keep the basic books, nothing about the animals and she wanted to move back to the city to be closer with her sister. Esther would go with her mom for the time being and help her settle in, and Jackson simply wanted nothing to do with the ranch. Miles immediately jumped into volunteer to take it over, wanting to do something to make his father proud of him. With the only other option being selling their home, his mother and siblings agreed.
It took a while to get their affairs settled, but about a year and a half later Miles finds himself the suddenly owner of the family business. And he doesn't have clue one about how to go about it.

skills
- ranching: LEVEL ONE
- mining: LEVEL ONE
- fishing: LEVEL ONE
etc.
- This man is literally scared of his own shadow. He hates ghosts, thunder and lightening, blood, big animals, the dark, and a long list of other things. His reactions have grown a little more hilarious over the years though.
- Miles also finds himself in the position of not knowing how to raise animals...like at all. He know they need to eat, but that's about it.
- Oh, he's also convinced the ranch is haunted.
