this young man is what you'd call the average joe, at first glance. he comes from a normal family with one younger sister alongside his parents, and grew up like any other guy would, being an average joe. his father was a businessman and his mother was a stay-at-home wife, as she needed to with three kids. they weren't rich, but they weren't poor either. just average.
after aurelio's fifteenth birthday two unfortunate events occured, however. two tragic events, even. the first one was when one of his best friends who didn't know how to swim got swept out at sea while swimming at the shallow grounds in the ocean, and was lost to the water.
the second was after his parents had gone on a cruise they had won at a local market, believing they wouldn't be able to afford such luxury if they didn't go. so they went, and sent aurelio a postcard saying they enjoyed the life at sea. they could hear seagulls calling and the noise of the waves. a few days after aurelio had received the postcard, he received a visit from the police saying that there had been an accident. the ship company apparently had a total of several flaws with their machinery, and it wasn't up to date when it came to security and protocols. there had been a fault somewhere in the engine, and it had began taking in hoards of water, very quickly. within a couple of hours the ship had sunk, and a lot of lives lost. among them was his parents.
aurelio now had to take care of his sister by himself, being saddened about people he loved dying around him. he decided to move, and came to the beautiful primula town in the sepalum peninsula. he needed somewhere they could be safe, where he didn't need to be so much a parent as an older sibling. having always liked fishing, and feeling a weird fascination with the ocean all of a sudden, he took a job at the fish shop and made sure his sister had all that she needed.
