the spring flower festival The flower festival came around every year, but each year the goddess kept getting sicker. The poison that afflicted her got worse and worse with each day and the sprites were frantically searching for an antidote...but time wouldn't wait. The goddess was traditionally the one who opened the flower festival. In years gone by she used to appear to the people but these days she was too weak, both because of the poison and because so few people believed in her anymore. But she knew the festival wouldn't be the same this year if she didn't give it her blessing...even if the people didn't believe, she still cared about the harvest. It was in her being. With the help of the sprites she left her resting place and went to the plaza in the town, hidden from view of the people. There were flowers all over, though not as abundant as previous years. The failing harvests were showing...but the people still looked happy. It brought her joy as well and for a moment, Ceres felt good. Opening her arms she blessed the festival, using the last of her strength to do so. Falling weak the sprites rushed her back to where she was hiding, hoping the imps hadn't found them. (Feel free to post in this thread for the event! The goddess was unseen to all people but magical beings or perceptive humans might feel her presence. You may certainly branch out and do other threads: just make sure you put 'event one' in the title.)

[atrb=border,0,true][atrb=style,padding: 10px; background-color:#EDEDED; width: 300px,bTable][atrb=align,center] Oh, aren't we a pretty, pretty pair? Yes, we are All, all the king's horses And all of his men Couldn't tear us apart. | Kanae had never understood the town's strange customs. But in all fairness, she had only recently arrived in the town. A foreigner still if you could call her such a thing. But even with that said, she couldn't say that she disliked it. Having a whole festival dedicated to flowers, evidently, was enough reason for her to arrive in the plaza on that crisp spring morning. The brunette took in a deep breath, resting her hands on her hips as she embraced the festival. Something about it just felt right, she thought. Like everything was more alive than it felt usually. Was that a strange thought? Maybe just a little bit. She adjusted her sunhat, making sure that the fresh flowers were apparent on them before heading right into the town to see what wares people had for sale.
What games she had to play. What flowers she could take pictures of. It was all very exciting in the end, she thought. She lifted her old, clunky camera up from the strap that clung to her neck. She looked for any signs of things to photograph before finding a particularly lovely group of flowers gathered in the corner of the entire thing. She wondered if the goddess would have made her appearance. From what little she knew, she had always come before. But hey, she thought. Things changed. Time changed. Kanae merely smiled as she inspected the flowers a bit closer, reaching out and touching one of the delicate petals with the tips of her fingers. Maybe she had missed it when she had been here? Who really knew, she thought. Who really knew indeed.
Couldn't tear us apart. |
