( FRIENDS ) oh man he'd loooove some friends. james is actually a pretty adoring guy and he really does try as well. sure, the antiquated politeness might rub you the wrong way but he genuinely goes out of the way to get along with people. and it's pretty vital since he's pretty much a newbie around here. i can't really go listing off specifics here either because it'd simply be ANYONE if they don't have allergies to ALMIGHTY PEPPINESS yet CLEARLY UNHAPPY ENTHUSIASM ABOUT FARMING

( ENEMIES ) man this is hm 'enemies' doesn't feel too good a word! but on the other hand i can understand people not getting along with james - he can be a bit too much really - and he definitely doesn't get along with some people either! despite all that happiness he finds it really hard to deal with some pure-born assholes, especially because of his absolutely rotten temper. so if they don't strike it off expect james to try to be polite but not really too much

on the other hand uh FARMING RIVALS? man let's do this jamie style any competitors? i mean you don't exactly have hot competition here ahahaha openly sobs

( ROMANCE ) no i don't think this is high up on james' list of life priorities i think he needs to come to terms with the fact he hates farming before he starts dating anybody. i'd imagine at this stage he'd get crushes really easily which are basically just jumped up UTTER ADMIRATION.

Mal would definitely hit it off with James. In fact, having such a willing test subject would probably make her actually visit and talk to him more, if only to have him try out her latest brew.

That wouldn't be all she'd use him for, though. They could still be actual friends and talk and do things that won't possibly end badly for poor James here.

Regardless though they would definitely get along pretty great. And a thread with something bad happening is obviously a must. (It'd be even more terrible if that was his first impression of her too! ;D)

yes, that sounds good. and she basically lives in a hut in the middle of the woods. he could probably stumble across it foraging or maybe he's lost or whatever works for you~

James! Jam! Can she call him Jam just to see his reaction? I think James is that person that would bring out the more childish side in Kolora. She has no clue what to do when it comes to farming but she’d love to give tips on how to be healthy. She could even be the older sister that he never had. So I see them getting alone with no problem. Although when he does come into the hospital sick or injured she will scold him on how he shouldn’t be so reckless with his health. Slap him on the shoulder and giving him a little glare here and there. But even if she scolds him it’s only because she cares and she’s just looking out for him. She would totally visit his farm from time to time to say hi and even ask if he wants to go to the city with her? And when he drops by for medicine she’ll wake up from her sleep and be the first to help. We could totally have a thread with them exploring the mines! Or having him drop by sick/injured. *U* whatever works for you bby.

Okay, but being serious...I'm not exactly sure what he'd be to James. You said that James might not like him but IDK maybe they could be some kind of bros. Callum could call him out on his bs and be like "wow you don't like ranching do you"

Except James would vehemently protest and Callum would tease him 'cuz he's a meanie. And then there is a wacky chase scene.

Reality though. I'm not sure how often James visits the inn and tavern but it's a cool place to hang out and is like a bar where ppl just hang out in the evenings when they have nothing to do but James is a BUSY RANCHER HE ALWAYS HAS STUFF TO DO???

They are so going to be hyperactive buddies—I see this as ann tries to teach him the ropes, since she’ll be glad to let him know the ways of how to be a good rancher, even if he’s not that much up for it xD and for him to actually admit that she’s a veteran would just get her all in a chuckling mood and be modest. And from there their friendship blossoms and he learns the ways of ranching!!! <3 I hope this works I am fkjdlkfg so tell me if alll makes seeenssse. :3

Poor, poor James. Every time he does one of his non-romantic romantic gestures, she gets all excited and hopeful, but then he's all "IN A PLATONIC WAY," and she's pissed at him again.

To make it worse for the situation, the poor girl doesn't seem to grasp the fact that he doesn't want to be with her, so she just kinda keeps hoping he'll come around at some point. So each time he tries to apologize, the poor boy just makes her upset and she just yells at him some more.

Besides both of them being foreign and really upbeat, I can't think of anything too substantial. Though she would honestly believe he adores farming and think it's really great how much he loves farming, apparently almost as much as she loves clothing. If he did tell her he hated farming, she'd pretty much try to convince him how much he loves farming.
