Most of the residents were either asleep or drinking their sorrows at the bar, while she sat there, moping as per usual.
Laying down near the shore, with her arms outstretched on either side of her she gazed at the moon, her one constant companion for the months that she'd been stranded there. She thought of her home, her friends, and most of all her guardian. She wondered if they missed her, or if they even remember her. Did they think she was dead? Were they even looking for her?
"Arhg!" Frustrated with her thoughts she sat up and angrily threw shells and rocks at the sea. 'If it wasn't for this damn tail...I'd have been home by now!' Looking at said tail, she scowled at her injury, even if she were able to find a way to swim back home somehow, her tail would only land her a one-way ticket to being ostracised. Being weak or viewed as weak in her little tribe was unacceptable....at least from what her friends tell her.
Shaking her head, she tried to clear her mind by singing, thankfully her only audience was the moon so she didn't have to worry about being too loud. "I know you're somewhere out there, somewhere far away. I want you back, I want you back...~"

he could already anticipate that his first night on land would be a long one. unable to keep his legs for more than a few minutes at a time, dorian was far from confident enough to wander farther into the peninsula, but staying beached at shore like this left him feeling far too vulnerable. while his first interaction with the humans here hadn't been so bad (an older man gave him something to wrap around his waist, he recalled) they were a long way from earning his trust. still, he had come too far to turn back now.
his only real option was to keep practicing. a frown deeper than the last carved itself into his features as he reflected on the past several hours of doing just that, but despite his displeasure, he dragged his way out of the water once more. the time it took him to transition between tail and legs had already shortened considerably from the first time, he noted, planting his hands firmly in the sand and moving to rise to his feet.
immediately, he fell forward. gravity.
slumping, he angled himself just so his face wasn't buried and let himself collapse again, not so defeated as frustrated. he resolved to try again in a few minutes, but for now, lay sprawled uncomfortably just barely out of the surf. out of the water he felt so heavy, but as a gentle breeze rolled in from down the coast, he begrudgingly admitted to himself that it wasn't all bad. ah--
the breeze had carried something with it. he swore he could hear a song, just barely, but it was enough to make something in him stir. making one more attempt to get to his feet, he wobbled for a moment before finally finding some sense of balance. without giving himself the chance to fall again, he hastily retrieved the collapsed staff tied at his waist and extended it, using it for support as he struggled along.
he wasn't sure what he had expected to find, until he found it. with only the moonlight to illuminate the shoreline, he barely noticed the silhouette at first, but it quickly became the only thing he could focus on. it was impossible to be sure, but it almost looked like-- no, no way. the idea of having found her this quickly after arriving was unreal, his luck had never been that good, never. still, even in this poor lighting, even after all this time, he was sure he wouldn't fail to recognize the color of that hair of hers.
he was still some distance away when his legs gave out under him, but he was close enough. "nea," he said quietly, as though testing it, and then once again, louder. "nea."

"Eh?" Stopping in her song and looking around her immediate vicinity she searched for the source of the voice in which her name had been called. That....or she could finally be going insane and was hearing voices.
She felt a little sad at that, she had hoped to grow old and perhaps have a few children before she began becoming senile and her children left her to die on some isolated island, or something. Throwing that thought away, she definitely knew she wasn't going crazy...at least not enough to be hallucinating voices, but where was that voice come from. She couldn't move very well on the land with her tail so in order to look behind her she had to roll over on her tummy and use her arms to lift herself up slightly.
She couldn't lift herself too high, because the pale yellow sundress she was wearing constricted some of her movement. 'How do humans move in these things?' She huffed, but lifted herself up as she called out to the darkness.
"Hello?" She called out in the human tongue, thinking perhaps it was the woman known as Adina or the bespectacled boy...maybe even that mousy boy she met along with that androgynous looking merman....what were their names again?
She squinted her eyes to see in the darkness, but the moon did not illuminate the areas where the tall rocks and trees shaded certain areas of the beach. She growled in frustration.
"Come...out...human!" Her human speech was still slow, but at the very least she could be understood much more clearly now.

the song that had drifted his way only moments before stopped suddenly; aside from the lapping of the waves at the shore, an almost tangible quiet settled over the beach. he was grateful for the little sound there was: it was something to focus on, something to distract from the fact that she had yet to say anything since he had called out to her. kneeling there, he watched her glancing around, waiting for some indication that she had seen or recognized him at all. ... come... out... human!he took a moment to let his confusion set in—he couldn't have been more than fifteen yards from her, did she really not see him?—and then his mistake occurred to him all at once. letting go of the staff and slumping back to the ground entirely, he might have laughed if the situation were different. it was true that she was plainly visible there, bathed in the moonlight, but the shadow cast from a nearby cliff hid him entirely from sight. on the up side, it meant she hadn't seen him yet, sprawled gracelessly in the sand like the fish out of water he was. as annoyed as he was that he had to go through the struggle of standing up again, he had been given a second chance to look cool, and he was going to take it. his time on legs was almost up, he knew, and it was largely determination rather than spare energy that brought him back to his feet and into the light. "i just found you and you're already inconveniencing me. really, nea." there was a comfortable familiarity hidden just beneath the haughtiness of his tone, but in no world would he let her know that he was happy to see her. "don't call me human."ooc: it's 6 am so this is probably really bad but at least it's here??? i'm sorry this took 500 years i've been hiding from everything again but i'll be back on point soon i hope i'm sorry by pz for pz
