the cooking contest There was something about fall that made him want to eat everything. Maybe it was just because it was the season most bountiful to the harvest. Summer was nice, but autumn meant that he now had the chance to eat what he pleased and no one could judge him in silence for doing it because everyone did. So naturally, the cooking contest was one among his favorite activities associated with the Harvest Festival. Mayor Unia rested his hands on his hips, the man looking around the area to make sure that everything was in order. He was quite pleased that the weather had been good to the entire time lately. No rain, all sunshine although it was a tad windy.
The tables had been set up, placements set. One table for appetizers and salads, another for soup, another for main courses, another for desserts. The mayor pat his stomach, quite pleased with himself. He couldn't wait to get to take some sampling a of all the dishes. Mayor Unia looked down at his watch, gauging the time for a moment before adjusting his sash. It was time to begin. "Hello! Welcome to the Cooking Contest! Participants, please come up to the registration table and sign for what course you will be making!" He had been thinking about giving them the chance to bring premade dishes but decided against it. It wouldn't be fair if some people had more time than others. "Once all participants have signed up, you will have an hour to go home and make your dishes!"

[/div] Never in a million years had she thought she'd ever want to participate in one of these. The cooking contests in Primula were something she had always looked up to when she was younger, but she was never really much of a good cook herself. Or a cook at all. The only thing she could make that was even remotely appetizing, was omelettes. Something about having raised chickens all her life, she guessed.
What course to sign up for, however? She was no good with salads, even though that was probably the easiest thing to make out of everything, and main dishes and desserts was probably the worst option for her, so that only left soups. But what kind of soup could she make?
Skye crossed her arms over her chest and stared at the jolly mayor Unia as he welcomed everyone, and thought long and hard on what to make before she made up her mind and signed up. Whatever it was, however, she was happy to finally be able to participate in the annual cooking contest. And to have something to take her mind off of the all too recent incident with the loss of her parents.
"I'm going to sign up for the soup course!" she said as she stepped up to the registration table, a tiny smile playing across her face. "My name is Skye Quinn." She nodded to the kind lady behind the table and then retreated to her new home, the inn, to make her experimentive soup.
