I CAN NEVER TAKE THIS BACK

It was the tall blond man’s first time in the peninsula, he’d been told of it by his tutor, seen photos, studied the map in great detail, and was told in great length how widely excepted he would be in this new foreign place. And yet still Atalo had accomplished one thing and one thing alone on his first day in his new home… Getting lost. He had his map in hand, looking down at it every few seconds in confusion… He had wanted the residential area… He already managed to buy his home, all he needed to do now was actually find it. Believe anyone’s word though, this young man was very much wanting to do this on his own, by himself, without anyone’s help… He wasn’t quite ready for human interaction yet- Buying the house was enough of that for one day… Especially his first day at that.
He looked around at the area around him- It was a raised area with a stone ground overlooking the water. It was quite pretty he had to admit, and made the tense blond relax a slight bit as he took in the fresh air and beautiful sights… It was moments like this one that made him believe in the Goddess that many people around here believed in- that and his gift. Though something stopped him from his little moment of enjoyment- The light footsteps behind him made him turn slowly, tensing up all of his muscles once more. He almost crushed his map in his hand before seeing it was only a cat.
Just a cat. A small, fluffy creature, it’s big eyes looking up at Atalo almost in anticipation of getting something from him, it was probably used to getting attention from those around town, not caring who the person was… He again for a minute was able to breath, kneeling down to let the animal smell his hand. “You scared me,” He whispered as the cat purred, rubbing its head against his hand happily. He smiled at it, cats being one of the few beings that didn’t terrify him to no end. They wouldn’t judge him. They wouldn’t do anything to him- they might stare but they wouldn’t be as mean as other people could be. He sat there petting the cat until it figured he really didn’t have anything besides a scratch behind the ear to give, it had its own business to attend to, as did he. Before it left though he couldn’t help but mutter out to the small fluff ball a plea for directions. As it would have known the area so much better than he did. But alas again Atalo was alone- though that was nothing new for the peninsula’s newest hermit.
