history
Atalo was in all aspects raised in a very good home. His parents were loving, he always had enough to eat (Even if he happens to be as thin as a stick), he had an over abundance of toys, and was always kept happy. Though every positive has a negative, and with so much good in his life, Atalo was really too sheltered from the world around him. His family had money due to the company his father had founded pulling in enough for any normal person to retire within a year or two, but he enjoyed working and providing for the family. Because of their wealth, Atalo’s mother was able to spend her time at home with him homeschooling him as to not send him out into the big scary world on his own before he was ready, again putting another nail into the coffin of social anxiety and awkwardness. Although to his parents it seemed the smartest choice…
Atalo didn’t grow up in a small town like Primula. No, he lived in a large city the majority of his early life. Where people who believed in magic needed to “Grow up” and those who thought they possessed magical abilities were “Crazy” and got thrown into mental institutions. These were only a few of the reasons on Mr. and Mrs. Thanos’ list of reasons to keep their child sheltered from the world around him. At least until he showed his magical powers and they could explain everything to him in full detail… Then he could do as he chose, but to avoid any sort of mishap that might go along with a sudden realization of these skills it was their choice and there is no changing that now. But as Atalo grew, so did the work load at his father’s job, the stress was wearing on him and a temper started to build in the poor child. He could hear his father yelling at his co-workers on the phone when something went wrong, and he rarely had time to spend with the little blond boy. The stress took a toll on his father’s health, and eventually the man passed on, showing the poor little rich boy what Death really was.
It wasn’t just something he would read about in stories, it was very real and very frightening… And as a magical being, he would see it all around him for ages to come. With his father now gone, Somebody had to take over the company. That job fell onto his mother, who then set him up with a private tutor. A close friend of her’s who would know very well how to help Atalo through the emergence of his magic. And alas, he did so well… But the sudden lack of his parents was a terrifying notion for him, there were always cameras and news people around his house and he had no idea why. Something was wrong. Something was terribly wrong in his life… And nothing would show itself until one day his mother would too disappear from his life, going missing after some large meeting about changes to the company. While his parents always tried to keep these things out of his life, it was all bombarding him all at once in his late teens- He was alone. Besides his tutor… He couldn’t leave the house without being bombarded with questions, people swarming, and soon the boy grew paranoid. He could barely take a stranger looking in his general direction. He locked himself away in his room, refusing to come out. His only connection to the outside world being meal times when his tutor would force him to eat, and help him through his studies, which quickly enveloped his life. He spent almost every waking hour that he wasn’t thinking about his fears, what was ahead of him, and his mother studying… He confided in his tutor, but eventually there was nothing left for the man to teach Atalo, and he had to move on to a new student. He was left all alone, which nothing but the name of a place he could go if he were ever feeling trapped- a place where he wouldn’t be so restricted as he was in the big city he had lived in all his life. And so, years later after running low on books, with some sort of suicidal want for something more than solitude, Atalo set out on a new adventure of his own. He would be the wizard his mother knew he could be- that is… If he could make it out the door.

- Atalo’s paranoia isn’t like that of a normal person- It isn’t just a fear. He literally freezes up, stutters, and shuts down. The only time he won’t do this is when he is focused on something else. For example, if he is reading a book and you try to engage him on the topic of what it is he is reading about, there is a slight chance he will be able to talk to you. As long as he doesn’t look up from the book… Or realize hes speaking to another living creature.
Atalo is a vegetarian, and was raised on such a diet. That could be one of the reasons he is such a skinny stick. He loves berries, and most sweets, but can’t tolerate spicy food very well.
Atalo finds nature very calming. That was one reason he moved out to the peninsula. And even if it involves a little too much social interaction for his liking, he still doesn’t regret it. He’ll make progress with that one day… Won’t he?
Large animals tend to frighten him, as do small dark spaces. He is okay with small animals though, and is especially fond of Cats.
Atalo really does want to break out of his shell, it’s just hard for him. It’s fairly obvious when you get to know him how much he wants that for himself. He doesn’t like being pitied either, though will hardly speak up for himself when people do play that card with him.
