Stella liked the mountain, especially climbing it. It made her feel good and empowered, like she could do anything. Now, the mountain was small and she knew it wasn't anything special, but she had a bit of an imagination and liked to pretend it was as tall and hard as Everest. Was that really so bad? She still had a year before she had to act like an adult so she was going to use it how she wanted for now, and no one was going to change that. Well, she had to be a little grown up because of the fact that she was now living on her own. Oh well~
Though, something rare happened today, she was the first one there. Stella tended to over sleep and show up real late, but Stella was excited to go to the mountain today it was fun. She was waiting for Charles and maybe Teagan, she wasn't sure if she was going to show up, she said she may of had something to do. Either way it should prove to be a fun time, they where meeting to look over their current business assignments but normally they ended up doing silly things. Stella also packed a lunch for the three of them, she was a decent cook. Well, she had to be in order to live on her own, but that was a little obvious.
Still, Stella was starting to grow bored and began counting in her head. She started at a hundred and if he didn't make it back after a hundred seconds, she'd have to scare him. "100...99...98" She started out slowly but as the numbers began to get lower the more bored she got, until she finally was going so fast no one could understand her. She stood up and got behind a rock, waiting to spot her victim. As soon as she saw someone coming, she jumped out screaming "BOO!"
A melancholy town where we never smile

THE POET AND THE PENDULUM forgive me, I have but two faces one for the world, one for god, save me
Charles took a breather, folding up the map he had in front of him and putting it into the pocket inside of his jacket. He had come up to the mountain to find a lead his great grandfather had left buried up here but the map was not really making much sense. Charles decided he would go back and scrutinize it better back at the library.
He had gone up to the mountain to meet up with Stella and Teagan, his childhood friends. Charles' stomach growled and he found himself wondering if Stella had brought lunches again. He would never admit it but he liked her cooking a lot better than his own. He decided cooking was a skill best left to girls.
He stood from the rock he had been occupying and he began hiking up to where he planned on meeting the girls. He walked for a good five minutes before he got to where he knew he would find Stella.
He was just approaching a rock when he heard a loud "BOO!" He didn't jump, he froze up and didn't move for a second. He turned his blue gaze on Stella and anyone would be able to tell that he was not amused. "Stella..." His voice was calm and icy as he spoke the name of one of his closest friends and a fellow treasure hunter.
By now, he was used to her antics but it still got to him how childish she could act. He grabbed her by the shoulders and drew her in close. "You should be more careful about popping up like that on people! You're lucky I don't swing when I get shocked!" He wasn't yelling but the stern tone of his voice was unmistakable but after he spoke these words he drew away and let out an exasperated sigh rubbing his head as if he was trying to rub away a headache.
"Seriously..." |
