The windless air was cool and the sky glowed dimly orange overhead, signalling the fading of afternoon and the dawning of dusk. Samael quickened his pace to a brisk stride, knowing that the chances of crashing into someone would be slim by this time of day, when most of the town had retreated back to their homes or to the inn for a nice, warm dinner. Of course, the rest of the staff was probably not going to appreciate their cook disappearing at such a busy time, but hey, what could he do after he'd almost burned his wrist off?
Samael grimaced as a sudden breeze picked up and grazed the edges of his burn painfully. His left hand tugged on his improvised cloth bandage to try and cover the extra bit, but he still had no way of seeing just how bad the damage was. How had he even managed to knock over that pan anyway? He wasn't usually that careless in the kitchen; most of his hospital visits in the past had been a result of outdoor exploits, not work. Samael couldn't even remember the last time he'd gotten such an injury from cooking; it was mostly just minor cuts and scrapes here and there. Of course he knew that hot oil could be temperamental, and his forearms had endured much abuse over the years from haphazard splattering, but it had been a while since a larger spill like this had forced him out of work and straight to the clinic. He was even still wearing his apron, having rushed out of the inn as soon as he had cleaned up the wound a bit. Though his rudimentary first-aid skills could only do so much, like lessening the feeling of his wrist being set on fire.
When Samael finally reached the hospital building, he had to shoulder the door open, keeping his left hand pressed gingerly on the cloth. "Hello?" he called out a bit strenuously, hoping he didn't sound like he was in too much pain. Even though he really was. |

"Oh? That's interesting." Thought a loud the raven haired female as her nose was once again in another book. More specifically, a medical journal she had come across in the clinic's library. On duty as the nurse for the day, Nadeshiko was determined to have the day go off without a single hitch. She wanted to prove that she could handle things on her own. She was the youngest employee there after all. Which of course, made her apply a huge amount of unnecessary pressure upon herself. Nadeshiko wouldn't consider herself a perfectionist, but, she did like completing tasks as flawlessly as possible. It sure helped her out during her schooling.
As she sat the desk in the back of the clinic, right leg crossed over her left, she continued reading the entries in the journal. Her eyes widening and her face grimacing as she read over some of the interviews and such. Closing the book, she stood up from her seat and stretched her arms, letting out a small yawn. It had been a slow day, the only patrons were the occasional villagers with a slight cold or headache. There was also this overworked male Nadeshiko had to lightly scold. But other then them, nothing really exciting had happened. "I know I should be glad everyone's okay," she started, walking to the cabinets where a few bottles of medicine was kept. "But today's been really slow." Nadeshiko finished, grabbing a small stool and stepping onto it as she began to arrange the medicines in the cabinet.
As she continued sorting the antibiotics and pain relievers, a voice was heard coming in the clinic. Turning her attention to the front door, Nadeshiko hopped off of the stool, fixing her shirt ans straightening out her skirt. Walking up to the front, her eyes made contact with the visitor. A male villager, most likely a cook due to his apparel. His hair was fairly shoulder length and blonde, his eyes a light brown. Greeting him with a bow, Nadeshiko began. "Welcome. I'm Nadeshiko Hirano, how may I be of assistance to you sir?" She felt it was polite to introduce herself to each individual who stepped inside the hospital. Being friends with the nurses and doctors could make your visit much less troublesome and ease the anxiety and nervousness. Walking up to him, she stood in front of him, eying him with a smile. tags: Samael notes: xxx

He didn't even recognise the language, not being a very well-travelled person. In any case, if this new person had started working here, he'd better learn to match her voice and name. Which he didn't foresee to be very hard, since she sounded like the stuffiest person he'd encountered at the hospital so far.
Samael's eyes didn't quite meet Nadeshiko's and they didn't follow her bow; instead they seemed to look straight ahead at the wall over her shoulder. "Mind taking a look at this?" he said, lifting his sloppily bandaged wrist. "I tried to fix it up myself but I don't think it really worked, it still hurts like hell." It wasn't very hard to see why; even a medically untrained eye would've been able to tell that the clean-up job had been done quite haphazardly. The unburnt skin around his wrist was cold from the dampened dish towel he had thrown over it, and it was wrapped loosely in a random cloth he had grabbed off the counter, but the messy bandaging couldn't quite cover the whole area. The spot where the oil had spilled was a raw, red splotch blazing angrily against the rest of his fair skin. Needless to say, as much as Samael tried to tough out all of his injuries, he wasn't irresponsible enough to resist professional attention for this one. It got in the way of being able to cook properly, and that was definitely not acceptable.
"I know you're not one of my regulars, but I hope you know what you're doing," he said lightly. Aside from the strain in his smile, Samael appeared to be remarkably composed about the entire ordeal. "I kinda need my wrist for work. The inn's always got hungry mouths to feed, y'know?" |

Looking down at the bandaged wrist the male was covering, Nadeshiko watched as he slowly removed the makeshift bandage from the wound to reveal a burned wrist. Letting a small gasp pass her lips, she peered a bit closer at the burn before standing back up straight and thinking aloud. "Hm, I would say this is a first or second degree burn. No problem though, I can help you. You'll be back to cooking in no time." Motioning for him to follow her, Nadehiko walked back past the curtains leading to a sink.
As she waited for him to follow, she ran the water and held her hand under the faucet. Waiting for the water's temperature to change from cold to cool. Walking back over to him, she took his cloth and laid it on the counter. "No need for this old thing. I'll give you something that will do you much better." Giving him a reassuring nod, Nadeshiko made her way back to the sink and crouched down, opening a cabinet and peering around inside. Grabbing a box, she arose back to the sink and tested the water. "Okay, you can let this water run over your burn for about ten minutes."
Opening the box, Nadeshiko pulled out a few gauze bandages. Inspecting them to make sure they were sterile, she began to read the back of the box. "Good, these should keep the air off of the burn and protect your skin." Laying the bandages down, she walked over to a cabinet and opened it to reveal a large assortment of bottles. Thinking to herself, she finally pulled out a bottle and grabbed a small tube, filling the tube up with pills from the bottle. "And we'll give you some of these. They're just pain relievers, just in case." tags: Samael notes: xxx
