[atrb=cellspacing,0,true][atrb=border,0,true] you think you're pretty? | you're not. There was a cut. On his face. His face was cut. Donovan stared in quiet disbelief at his reflection in the mirror, nothing short of aghast. He hated tree limbs. He hated nature for allowing trees to grow so close to what these country people actually considered to be a 'road'. Trailing fingers along the otherwise flawless skin, he inspected himself for other injuries. Thankfully, it seemed to be the only one, and a good doctor would know how to be sure it was properly healed...except there were no good doctors on this dirt pile. The only person he could think of was...well, he honestly never cared to remember her name before. He was not staying here any longer than his parents forced him to, so there was no point in learning names. He knew where she lived, at least. Apparently, most of the people in the town were so poor they lived where they worked. Technically, he would just be visiting the hospital, so it was impossible for her to get upset. What if it didn't heal correctly? He needed this eyesore gone as soon as possible. Within minutes of making the decision (he was already dressed in his finest, since he'd been out on the yacht all night drinking with...well, himself), he was out the door and walking brusquely toward the doctor's home. It wasn't too far--he made it in less than a half an hour and started knocking on the door as loudly as he could without reddening the skin on his knuckles. "Excuse me! I need some help, it's an emergency! I can't wait until the morning, so come out here and help me!" The unpleasant smell of alcohol was still on his breath and clung to his clothes, but he hadn't had time for a shower. He was taking no risks with his appearance. When it came to his circle of friends back home, if you weren't impeccably dressed and smooth skinned, you weren't a friend any longer. He needed to have that spot still when he returned. |

[atrb=border,0,true][atrb=cellPadding,0,true][atrb=cellSpacing,10,true][atrb=valign,top]doctor, doctor tagged: donovan! words: 598! notes: she angry! | It was nothing short of a miracle when the doctor got a chance to sleep.
Day in and day out, people came barging in. Demanding one thing or another and she, as she was a giving soul so to speak, would comply. No matter how painstaking the endeavor may have been. After all, she had no such business in being rude with other people. She, after all, would not stand for rudeness in any such time. She didn't like it herself, right? Why do the same to someone else? Exactly her point. But her 'politeness' could only go so far before it started to give way beneath the pressure. And more often than less that was when it was quitting time and for whatever reason, most everyone arrived with some new eyesore.
She loved her job. She did! But lord help her if she had to work after quitting hours when she already was up with the roosters and worked well into the night as it was. And people understood that. Most people understood that Aveline would sometimes value sleep a little - just a little - more than the lives of people. Was that so wrong? Yeah. Probably. But it wasn't like she took an oath or anything so to hell with that! So imagine her surprise when she woke up at three o' clock in the morning to treat some god damned patient. She rose from the bed almost grudgingly, the bed springs creaking from beneath her before she wrapped herself in a plush bath robe.
The woman stumbled down the stairs from her household to the clinic, tripping over her feet once and having her face promptly collide with the wall before the final staircase. She rubbed her forehead, eyes bloodshot from exhaustion. Her body swayed slightly before she moved to open the door, the doctor looking more disheveled than ever before seen in public. She blinked almost slowly, the other's words going in one ear and out the other. Aveline sighed, lifting a hand to brush through her messy black hair as she tried to figure out what was even going on.
He smelled horribly of alcohol. Had he been drinking? Was he throwing up or something? Did he not know that liquor did that to you? Or was he one of those weird drinks that had to talk to someone or just anything for that matter? Part of her just wanted to slam the door in his face but she merely sighed again. Annoyed. Was it obvious? Probably. "What kind of an emergency is it?" She grumbled, leaning on the door quietly. Aveline's eyes lingered on the other's form, looking for any signs of a possible injury. It only looked like a cut. Even then it was a small cut. It'd heal itself.
Maybe it was because he was drunk that it seemed like such a big deal. "Listen kid," She began, moving to rub her eyes to wake up a little more. "Whatever kind of shit you're pulling. It's not funny. It is three in the morning. Are you honestly going to demand that I treat a tiny little cut that will heal on its own right now?" This guy honestly. He must have been real fucking drunk if he thought a cut like that was emergency enough to wake her up this early. "What am I supposed to do? Give you a band aid and kiss it better?"
He looked like a smart ass to make matters worse. Something told her she wouldn't be going to sleep for a while now.

Sorry it took so long to get it into post format! No internet sucks. ;n;[atrb=cellspacing,0,true][atrb=border,0,true] you think you're pretty? | you're not. "Wow, you look terrible."For once in his life, Donovan hadn't actually meant to say soemthing so rude, but it just sort of rolled out and he didn't really care enough to stop it. The doctor was one of the few people in the town who he thought actually looked classy, even if she wasn't, and he hadn't expected to see her so...messy. Sure, it was the middle of the night and he was yelling for her to hurry, but looks were important--looks were everything. If it weren't for that one simple rule of life, the city boy wouldn't be standing outside of the crummy hospital in the middle of the night in the first place. Also, if it weren't for the trees. Didn't this town have some kind of tree trimming service? Were they neanderthals? "Should I demand it louder so you can understand? My face is cute. My face, dear. It's worth demanding." How could she not understand? Weren't women supposed to care about their appearances? Of course, this was a little country town. They probably cared more about which disgusting farm animal was defecating on their front lawn that actually looking presentable. It almost made him pity them. They had nothing to look presentable for. "And if you put your backwoods mouth anywhere near my face I'll own this hospital."He winced at that. Donovan knew he was crossing the line, even towards someone from this place. He wasn't just being blunt now, he was being rude. And if he wanted to survive without this town going Deliverance on him, he would need to dial it down. "Wait, ah. I apologize. Though don't you dare tell anyone I have or I will own this hospital." He looked past her into the clinic, almost to the point of being embarassed by himself but too drunk to really reach it. If she wasn't going to invite him in, he'd just invite himself. The teen went to slide in past her, trying to glide smoothly inside, but his tipsy mind didn't comprehend that the floor wouldn't wouldn't move for him. The tip of one shoe caught on the floor and he stumbled forward, clipping her shoulder as he tumbled past her down to the floor. Gracefully, in his mind (though it looked more like a twisting goose trying to escape a cat). If she tried to rib him for this later, he would claim he was too drunk to remember. |
