Eric V. Maelstrom
19 · Male · Entrepreneur · Rancher
personality
positive
negative
- Animal Friend;; Eric has a way with dealing with animals that allows him to befriend most non-humans in a way that some would find extraordinary.
- Tenacious;; Doesn't matter what he's doing, when Eric starts something, he doesn't stop doing it until he finishes it. This sometimes gets him into trouble, working too long into the night and winding up tired the next day.
- Filth Fighter;; Never one to abide any sort of dirt or grime to find sanctuary in any part of his house. Likewise, he doesn't sit idly by as the pig-sty turns into-- well-- more of a pig-sty!
- Adept;; Eric is able to learn most things fairly quickly as long as he has a good teacher to show him the ropes. This allows him to start doing new jobs that he otherwise wouldn't be able to do, such as do handiwork around the town, cook, or even grow crops.
- Sensible;; With a head planted straight on his shoulders, he is able to use it to come to logical conclusions. He's filled with an abundance of common sense. While he is able to be rational to a fault, he doesn't have much experience when it comes to relationships and often makes simple blunders when talking to others.
negative
- Stubborn;; This goes beyond stubborn, obstinate is another word for it. He doesn't easily yield his case and likes doing things his own way.
- Isolationist;; Enjoys his privacy. He has trouble maintaining constant communication with anyone who doesn't similarly make an effort. He much prefers the company of Max to most parties or social events that are held but feels the obligation of going to be a part of the community.
- Over-zealous;; Sometimes, too much passion is a bad thing. He is able to get so caught up in what he's doing that he loses track of time. It's not that the object of his attention is any more important than another thing, it's just that when he does something, he wants it to be perfect.
- Selective Rationality;; He, first and foremost, disbelieves magic exists. Even if something happens that is totally unexplainable aside from a supernatural occurrence he will do his very best to explain it scientifically. If he can't, he'll pretend what happened didn't really happen.
- Sore Loser;; While a dignified loser, it doesn't mean that he doesn't feel it when he loses. He's unable to deal with failure very well and defeat typically throws him into an all-out funk where he can't do anything but practice, plan, and implement strategies that may result next time in a victory. These funks can last one day, several week, even a year if the next contest or event doesn't occur beforehand or if he doesn't burn himself out in the process.
history
Eric, actually, wasn't born in Sepalum. He was born in Aegis Village some ways to the north of the peninsula. He was born to a family of ranchers. As the youngest of three sons, he always had to live up to the expectations that others had of him born of his brothers' accomplishments. Though it wasn't intentional, this had cast a shadow over Eric, causing him to feel inferior to the others. The eldest became a handiman, expert in fixing things and creating works of wood and metal. The second eldest became a chef, creating edible works of art on your plate, made from the ingredients grown on their father's ranch. Eric was the only one who didn't have any other skills other than their shared ability to take care of livestock. He played the violin, but it was hardly a skill that could benefit the family like handiwork and cooking could.
It was on his eighteenth birthday that Eric moved out of the house, having found a plot of land in Sepalum that was in his price range. He left with the intention of finding his own way in the world and creating a ranch to prove to his family and himself that he wasn't just the third-rate farm boy he had grown up believing he was.
