history
Faris grew up in a land completely engulfed in desert. It was a hot and very hostile place but every once in awhile, you'd find an oasis with beautiful desert flowers. Faris was born to a desert flower, an witch who fell for a wizard who held his allegiance to their version of a King. His mother was a dancer, using her magic to make blossoms fall as she danced. When the wizard saw her, he fell for her too and the two were married with their King's consent.
Faris was born to them and quickly showed his prowess with magic. He exceed his father in magical ability, and his mother was even more surprised tat he carried the green eyes that were said to speak of magical aptitude in their lands. The King was quite taken with Faris, treating him as if he was his own son. Faris grew up into a handsome man, and many of the women of the land had admired him from afar.
When he realized the power he had over females with just his looks, he became a typical teenage guy and started playing with the hearts of the women but there was woman he couldn't mess with, no matter how much he tried. The King's daughter was rumored to be the most beautiful of desert flowers, and Faris fell for her. She wanted nothing to do with the handsome man with the mystical green eyes.
He never gave up on her though, soon e had cut ties with all other women, focusing completely on her. Then one day he saw her in the garden with a stable hand. She was much happier there then she was with anyone else. Faris realized then that he was really in love with her and her heart was already claimed.
Faris left that night. He left a single flower on her dresser with a note that wished her luck following her heart. Then he left it all behind and started travelling. He moved from place to place, never staying too long. In some places he took up his old ways of playing with the hearts of women but each time he saw a little of her in them and he had to leave them be.
In one such place, he met a witch who threw herself at him. He wanted nothing to do with her though, so he pushed her off. In spite, she cursed him. She imprisoned him in a lamp so that he couldn't leave her side. She figured it was a fitting end to a womanizer to be tied to the side of a woman he had no affection for.
Inside the lamp, he was forced to think. It was the only thing to do. He thought about her a lot. He wondered why he'd fall for the one girl who didn't share his feelings in return. Then one day, someone rubbed the lamp and he was freed. He found himself in a room he recognized. It was the castle he had left behind and sitting in the center of the room was the girl he left behind, beside her was the stable boy, dressed as a King. She looked shocked to see him and he her. She was older now, but he still looked the same.
He found that the witch who had cursed him had grown tired of his constant thoughts of a lost love so she sold him. Right to the person who it would hurt him most to see. Faris was required to grant them three wishes, as the King explained because of the curse. He simply smiled and bowed, giving them his acceptance. The King wished that the land should prosper, and Faris granted it. The King wished for their enemies to put down their arms and seek peace, which Faris granted. The last was that the Queen's heart be his again.
Faris was confused by this request. He looked to her and he saw in her eyes what he never thought he would see, affection. She had fallen for him, when he left. And now he was asked to return the heart he had stolen, that he didn't even know he had. Faris couldn't do it. He wanted her to love him. So he fought, and the curse loosened. It released him from the wishes and he used his magic to make the King accept that he had power and that he would find another to love.
The Queen fled with him and they lived happily in the desert until she became too old to move. They never had any kids and so it was just her in his life. She died in his arms as she slept. Faris spread her ashes to the winds to become one with the desert and left a single desert flower where she had left this place.
Then he started travelling again. He wanted to live on for her. To carry a piece of her with him through the ages. His lamp always tied to his side. Time passed by slowly and eventually he found that the land he knew no longer existed, it was swallowed up by it's sands. Faris continued forward and eventually he found himself on Sepalum one day.
He wondered what it was about this place but he liked it. And for once, he decided that he would stick around and see what this place was about. And why it reminded himself of the flower that hurt him and healed him at the same time.
