If you’re curious about Gadriel’s past, well, you’d better not ask him if you want the truth! Sometimes he’ll regale people with stories of being a seventh son of a seventh son, and others he’ll talk about an impoverished life as a prince abandoned as a child due to a prophecy. Things rarely remain consistent when he tells them, nor does he treat it like anything other than a joke. Honestly, there isn’t much to tell about his life. Growing up in a warm four person family as the oldest child, his past is actually pretty mundane.
He was always interested in dreams, as he’s a lucid dreamer, and the interest was developed further when his little brother was wracked constantly by nightmares. After nights of watching him refuse to sleep and feeling him shuddering when he crawled into his bed at night, Gadriel decided to find a way to supplant his own pleasant dreams in place of the night terrors. Thus for the last “seventeen” years (if you take his age at face value), he’s delved all his magical attention into the world of dreams. He calls it dreamweaving, and he’s built an entire career around it. His business never really settles down, moving every few months wherever the wind takes him. Currently, he’s set up his purple tent on the peninsula, and has opened up the world of dreams to the town residents.

- When Gadriel actually opened up his tent for the first time, the nature of his business was... Well, misconstrued. After all, they saw him drag in a bed to the back room of the tent, and his answer to what he did was always “I make your wildest dreams come true” with a little wink.
How Gadriel’s dreamweaving works is simple to understand if you know anything about cg meshes. Basically, he makes dream meshes of situations and scenarios, and then binds them with the customer’s memories to fill in all the details that would personalize each dream. As long as they drink the potion before bed, they’ll have the dream of their choice. Of course, there are a few... Side effects if taken without plans to sleep, but that’s what the tiny print labels are for!
The length and intensity of the dreams depend on how much a customer is willing to pay. A pleasant ten minute dream about a loved one would cost much less than a night long swashbuckling adventure with a handsome love interest. He even has a back room for more, er, intimate dreams, but those are not for the faint of heart. There is also a small bed in the back for testing dreams out in sort of clinical trials, though people tend to get all awkward turtle about the fact it exists while they're browsing.
