history

On one midwinter day some one hundred and twelves years ago, “Tailor” died at eleven twenty-two p.m. Well, figuratively, at least. His pulse still beat (and continues drumming on even to this day), but that was the exact moment his human lover, aged from a life together, drew his last breath – bringing pretty much whatever made Tailor who he was with him. Though the decades have passed, this wizard is still mired deep in grief and exists as a devastated shell of his old self. He lives only to for-fill the promise he'd made his human lover to do so, but basically spends his days listlessly going to work and then going to sleep. Never leaving the village shop, he's worked under many generations of tailor shop owners, but his sensitive nature has made him too terrified to befriend any more humans, as he's had to watch so many grow and die like mayflies. Thus, he remains detached and clinical. One hundred and twelve years of grieving and pushing people away – can you tell he's an emotional coward?


But, moving in reverse, let's talk about his birth. Frankly, this boy is oooollld. Though he's lost count out of non-interest, some four hundred or more years ago, he was born in a small village high up in a northern mountain country. His village was strictly of magical beings, so age meant nothing to them. The concept of dying was only applicable to times of accidents or when applied to the animals they hunted and took care of. When the march of time brought in the standards of militaristic expansions and revolutions, Tailor traveled southwest to find a place more peaceful. It was only about two hundred years ago that he started to live among humans and feel the deep pain of their aging process. As his new friends died one by one, he became reclusive and unfriendly. However, one spark of light in the form of another man rekindled his passion for life – well... For as long as that person lived, at least. Convinced that no one else could have ever loved as deeply, after he lost him, he retreated to his shell, as mentioned above, where he remains today.

• Tailor is a fake name, as is pretty obvious. He's one of the old-school class of wizards that thinks that telling other's his real name would give them power over him. He thinks his nick name works well enough – after all “Hey you - the tailor” would get his attention just fine.
  
  Though a hundred years ago Tailor was considered a great magic user, decades of not practicing and no ambition has lead to his spells dwindling down. Basically, for an additional price, he'll do thinks like enchant clothing to change colors or reflect images or shift around as if it's in a breeze, but, while competent, they're a far cry from the breathtaking clothing he used to make.
  
  Originally from a far north nation of ice, Tailor has traces of a foreign accent – though, as the language has faded into obscurity in the passage of time, no one is ever generally able to figure out what it is.
