Taking the piece of paper that Mr. Argentum handed her she nearly skipped out of the resort office, down the patio and the steps to the dock. There were tons of docks on the island, mostly for the guests of the resort to use, and a few private ones for people that had moved out there like her parents. The resort had it's own dock for transporting guests and employees.
Jumping into one of the smaller employee-transport boats, Iphi untied it and turned the key, backing out and zoomed towards the dock on the peninsula. It didn't take long to get there and when she did she docked the boat, climbing up onto the dock and making her way towards the town.
Looking down at the paper again she read the address...the Primula Town Caller office. She'd never been there but it wasn't too hard to find. Primula Town was laid out in a way that made it pretty easy to navigate. Soon she was at the doors of the correct building (after verifying the address of course) and walked in...but not before bumping into someone who was on their way out.
"Oh!" she squeaked, looking up at the taller person, coming face to face with a young man that she didn't recognize. A bit of a blush came to her cheeks out of embarrassment, looking down at the ground immediately. "I-I'm so sorry, I wasn't really paying attention..." |

[atrb=vAlign,top][atrb=border,0,true]WORDSlol idk man TAGSiphigeniiaa NOTESsorry if i gave you nothing For once he had brought a pair of earbuds to work. It wasn't often he took pleasure in listening to music, but today was such a gloomy day that he thought it was appropriate. Lighten up the mood, maybe. Who knew.
It had been raining when he had left the house, unwillingly so. But then his mother was so intent on him spending at least a full day at work, she had kicked him out the door. Luckily he had managed to grab an umbrella before he was violently assaulted, so he wouldn't get soaked.
The moment he was out of the residential district he had popped his earbuds in and pushed play on his ipod. They weren't the richest of people, but Nihel liked to spend his money on electronics instead of useless television shop items like his twin. Really, when would he ever get the use for rubber gloves? He didn't even clean his own room.
The song that started playing was an upbeat song from a film he had seen a poster of in the city. He hadn't been there long enough to actually go see the film itself, but he had googled the soundtrack when he got back home, and he had liked it.
So without further thought he had downloaded the music, making sure to hide it from his twin brother because if he found out he would probably make fun of him until his ears fell off. Although it had taken forever, what with the terrible internet connection Primula had. He cursed the place for it, but there wasn't really anything he could do about it.
Work had gone by swimmingly with the earbuds in, only having to take them out for a few minutes every time the editor, Will Lowe, came by. All he was doing today was writing up an interview he'd had with a local rancher, but it was something he could have done in his sleep.
He still had the page up every time Will walked by, but as soon as he was alone again, he switched to another document with a new novel he was working on that he brought up from his portable USB drive he had hooked to the old computer. It was a wonder he got to switch them in time sometimes, but luckily the editor wasn't such a dictator.
After a while of staring at the clock for a break, having caught himself in a dry with his novel, he pulled his earplugs off and waved to get Will's attention. "I'm going to take my lunch break now." The editor nodded, then went back to whatever he was doing.
Nihel popped his earbuds in again and lifted himself from his chair. A hand went to grab the food his mother had packed for him - why did she even still do that though? He was nineteen.
He sighed. It was food, he supposed, and there was no cafeteria, as the caller wasn't a grand establishment.
His stomach growled, he could feel, as the music pulled into overkill and sent small shivers down his body. Only chemicals being released, he knew, but it still felt pretty good, and made him feel better. He would probably even be kind to the next person he met, as unusual as that was. Nihel just didn't believe in sugar-coating.
Surprisingly, as he opened the door to leave the building to go eat his food - whatever it was that his mother had packed him - he was stopped short as the door opened to the sight of a girl. A shorter girl. Maybe younger? Probably younger. She was cute, though, for a kid.
When she blushed and apologised, Nihel instantly smiled. Though not with the kind of smile you'd see from his brother. No, this kind of smile was the mischievous one he occasionally got, rare as it was. A hand immediately reached for her upper arm, his smile reduced, as he asked her if she was okay.
"I didn't hurt you, did I?"

However, when he was just trying to reassure her (or something like that) she calmed, and smiled a bit at him. Thankfully she hadn't made him angry by completely running into him. She had always been such a klutz, tripping over things or running into people with her eyes wide open.
"O-oh, no!" she exclaimed. "I'm fine, and I was the one who ran into you in the first place, I should, um...watch where I'm going," she said, the volume in her voice dwindling as she spoke until she was mumbling to herself a bit.
Why was she always so socially inept around people, especially men? It would be a lie if she told herself the boy in front of her wasn't attractive, but in a different way than others. He wasn't very...well, muscular, like some of the ranchers she had met, but he was slim and cute and that was enough to bring a blush to her cheeks once more.
"A-anyway," she stammered, trying to collect herself. "I have this classified that I need to um, give to someone at the paper, I'm not sure who deals with that..." Fumbling in her pocket she pulled out the folded piece of paper, explaining that there was a sale on resort rooms for the whole last month of summer.
Then she realized that this boy was leaving the office, not sitting in it behind a desk. What if he was just visiting himself or was on an errand or needed to go do something urgently? And she had interrupted. Instantly she felt bad, and shoved the paper back in her pocket. "I-I'm sorry!" she squeaked. "I'll just, um, go inside and find someone, sorry for bothering..." |

[atrb=vAlign,top][atrb=border,0,true]WORDSlol idk man TAGSiphigeniiaa NOTESall that speech-- so uncharacteristic of him There was an ongoing debate inside his head, deciding whether he should continue acting out of character, or if he should just go back to the way he always acted. His normal self. Yet, he felt a compelling need to be different today. Maybe it was something about the music he had been listening to, or maybe it was because he was just so bored of not interacting with other youths lately.
His brother wasn't lying whenever he complained about Nihel spending all his time in front of the computer, plastered to the screen for a new break in his research. It was the most important thing to him, to find that which had killed their father, and who, so he could exact his revenge.
But staying indoor all the time had it's downsides. His skin was pale and his body slender. It looked like he wasn't eating properly, which he wasn't in all honesty. All his time was spent on his research, his novels, or his job, and most people around him was worried.
Mostly just his mother and brother, though, but it was bad enough.
Maybe if he interacted with this girl, his brother would stop nagging about him being a shut-in? The decision was pretty easy to make now, believing full well that it might not be enough to get him off his back, but it would still give him leverage.
He smiled at her again, though this time a little gentler, a little more sweeter.
"That's okay, you look like you're in a hurry," he said, eyeing her over. She really was a cute girl, especially with that small blush developing across her cheeks - was he that good looking? - yet perhaps a little young for his particular taste. Not that he even really cared about such things, he didn't have time for it.
Then he noticed the paper she pulled out, eyeing that instead, his smile faded.
"Ah, I am keeping you, then," he stated, straightening up. "I should let you go do your business."
He was in the middle of stepping aside for her, when a thought crossed his mind.
"Unless," he leaned forward, close enough to be only inches away from her face, "you want to join me for lunch."
He straightened up again, sighing. "See, I was just leaving for my break, and I think there's a little too much food in here for me to eat all alone," he raised the bag in his hand a little higher, so she would notice what he was talking about. "And it's so rare for me to eat in company, won't you join me?"
He smiled yet again, all innocently and pure.
"I'll be going back to the office afterwards, so why don't you just hand that in then? I'll even help you, I promise."
It wasn't that he was playing with her, because he did like company from time to time, but his way of inviting her was a little unlike him. No, that was wrong. It was a lot unlike him. Oh well.

If he didn't work there, he was leaving to go back to his every day life and if he did, he was probably on a time limit away from his desk. She felt bad for intruding on his time but...the young man didn't seem to be bothered at all.
Shoving the paper back in his pocket, she glanced up as he began to talk. So he did work here! Thankfully she hadn't just gotten up in some random person's face, asking questions she should've asked a newspaper employee. To her surprise, though, he didn't just shoo her away or tell her to go inside and ask someone who wasn't busy. Instead, he invited her along.
"Oh! Um, well...sure!" It wasn't often that people invited her to do things, especially on a whim. Iphi's life wasn't filled with much spontaneity, so she decided to go with it. Maybe it could be a rewarding experience! Maybe she would end up with a new friend. Besides, he had added that he'd help her with her classified after he was done.
Smiling, she stuck her hands in her back pockets, still a bit nervous about the new situation but excited nonetheless. "Where were you headed?" she asked, wondering if he ate at his house or if he preferred to eat in a park or something like that. |

[atrb=vAlign,top][atrb=border,0,true]WORDSlol idk man TAGSiphigeniiaa NOTEShe's really trying He frowned lightly when he noticed the girl put her hands in her backpockets. He found that sort of thing to be a little rude when in company of someone you had just met. Or maybe it was just because she was so young. How old was she anyway? He squinted down at her, trying to figure her age out, when she asked him where he was headed.
"Just outside the City Hall," he answered shortly, his facial expression still calm and inviting, as his thoughts fluttered about.
As they left the bustling newspaper office, Nihel offered her his arm to hold like a true gentleman, and then smiled down at her.
"So, my lady, what's your name?"
He was already starting to feel tired of his little 'game', however fun it had seemed at first. Was he going to be able to pull it off, or was his true self showing through whatever mask he had thrown on?
"Ah, but I suppose it would be rude of me to ask a lady's name, without offering my own first." He could just hear his brother's laughter in his head. "I'm Nihel Rousseau."

In any case, the frown didn't last long and soon he was telling her where he was going and asking her name and everything seemed to have gone back to normal, or at least the normal that she had been exposed to.
She was about to answer his question when he continued, saying his own name first. Rousseau? No wonder he looked so familiar! Iphi could've smacked herself in the forehead for not realizing it but the summer had been long and she hadn't seen many people she used to go to school with lately.
"Oh! So you're Noel's brother!" she said with a peppy smile, walking with him as they headed to the city hall, her arm linked in his. She couldn't help the small blush that crossed her cheeks at the contact, but this was still all just a friendly encounter, nothing else. Everyone knew Noel Rousseau, even though the family hadn't been in Primula that long.
"I'm Iphigenia Aulis," she continued, responding to his earlier question. "But most people just call me Iphi because it's easier to remember I guess." She had a bit of a long, strange name, but she liked the uniqueness of it. She'd never met another Iphigenia in her life, after all. |
